Clarks shoes any good?

£120 is perfectly sensible for a good pair of shoes. Though for that price, I'd expect a good ten years out of them.

I have a couple of pairs that I bought in Australia more than 6 years ago, and they're still going strong. And I paid the equivalent of about £80 each for them.

120 quid on a pair of shoes, thats crazy!

Do I sense some sarcasm here :p

I normally pay between £100 and £250 on a pair of shoes and have many pairs that have lasted over 5 years, in the long term cheap shoes are a false economy

Thomas Rogerson & Sons stock very good quality footwear at a range of prices. However, that link will only be of use if you live in Scotland (or just over the border). Though I am sure there must be similar shops in England.

Without going into ridiculous priced brands, Clarks do some of the best quality and fitting footwear I have ever had. However I think their quality has slipped in the past 24 months like a lot of manufacturers.

Clarks do good shoes that last. What irks me is the number of places like river island , Topman, etc selling "fashion" shoes which last about 2 months before falling apart (seen this happen to a couple of my mates). As said above, you get what you pay for.

Yeah Clarks are always my first port of call for new shoes. They have some very smart and comfy stuff in there. Got my current pair from there for £70, worth it as they're worn all the time to work. They come up well after a polish and are comfy after an initial week or so of breaking them in.

Also, since when was Clarks not a high street store??

I had a pair of clarks shoes last for nearly 4 years, wearing them daily for work - it was amazing they lasted so long...

I got another pair, just over a year ago, and already I can see they will not last till the end of this year - work shoes again... So, yes they are good, but I think the quality has dropped off a tad. Paid £45 for them, so all in all, not cheap but by no means expensive either...

Still very good servicable shoes, and well recommended. Styles are a bit iffy as mentioned, but some are quite nice, and very comfortable.... Also do half sizes, which is good.

Oh, and yes as pointed out, Clarks are 'high street shoes' get mine from the high street, never even seen them online... they have a website, but you can't buy online..!!?? can you?

True. When I said 'High-Street' store, I was referring to shops like River Island, TopMan, Next etc. But your right, topman is on high street too.

Indeed, especially where smart/office shoes are concerned, cheap ones wear terribly quickly. Got a lovely pair of Ferragamos, fantastic quality, Churchs also make fantastic quality shoes (although in more traditional styles). Having said that of the brands in the OP's price range Clarkes I would imagine to be of higher quality than most of the other high street brands.

I remember having some with a rocket on them. I wish they did them in adult sized 9s. I'd have some more.

Pfft I had a pair with flashing L.E.D's.

As for expensive shoes, mine cost £6k, and I wear them on a necklace, so I win :p (diamonds on the soles of my shoes, naturally).

Great shoes. Pairs usually last over a year and if they are full leather and cared for properly they can last many years.

Avoid shoes from Marks and Spencers though- I had to send a pair back that I had for just under six months. Got a full refund mind but they were a shoddy state and it's not like I walk for miles in them!

I wear the activeair ones, very light on the feet, comfy soles and soft leather on top. Nice for when your walking around desks all day :)

Id recomend them...

I went to Street on Somerset a few years ago ( a factory outlet for clarks and other shoe manufacturers) and you can get some good bargins there, although it can be a trek to get to!

I've bought nothing but Clarks shoes over the years, they are the only make I've had no problems with (I've got small but very wide feet with quite a high bridge, so I cant wear slip on shoes)
I've got a pair of LOAKES shoes for best, can't beat them TBH & a pair lasted my dad for 20 years! (didnt wear them all the time though)
