Strange question I know but my assistant has just taken 2 weeks off work so that she can go and marry some guy she met in a chat room.

He lives in Egypt at the moment and plans to move to Prague once they are married.

They have only met 3 times but have been talking online for a couple of years.

Its sent alarm bells ringing for most of us but its her life so not much we can do or say.

The number of people someone can have access to using the internet is simply huge. I've met people on chatrooms years and years ago and i'm still in close contact with them - some from Norway, Serbia, Finland and so on. I've met a few as well.

Surely you could compare it to meeting someone off OcUK?

My friend, Big Tony met some doris on IRC and moved to the USA to marry her. They've been together over ten years now. I understand he makes her look small!

Well I'm not sure about getting married straight away. But my two best friends at uni found each other on facebook and met up just before going to uni and fell in love instantly. I can see them getting married in a few years, I've never known such a good match before. :p

Does WoW count? :-P

Not married yet, but been together a couple of years now and its going well, planning to move to Sweden together (she is Swedish) and get married there XD

I've meet some good friends off t'internet but I've never got jiggy with anyone off the net. I'm sure there's lots of people who've got married after meeting online. Getting married after only 3 meetings sounds like a recipe for disaster though. People can be very different in real life.

I'm going to the wedding of someone I met on the net. Does that count? :p

i met my (considerably) better half on myspace, and we've been together over 2 years.
since we met we haven't been a day without speaking (moved from myspace to msn, to mobiles within a few days) and we've been living together since july - i'd be pretty upset if he felt i wasn't marriage material just because of the situation in which we met!

does it matter how people meet, or how long people know each other for? if both parties are happy, how can it be 'wrong' for them to be together?

even if it all goes **** up and you get to say 'i told you so', i don't think you can deny anyone a chance of happiness, no matter how that arises.

one of my mates from school met a lass from canada on the net, he ended up moving over there. Pretty sure they are married now. Got to say fair play to him, he was struggling to find a path over here, over there he is doing something he loves ( involved in house building/timber frame construction ) and getting paid well!

I know a guy who met a woman via an internet dating site, they are now married and have a child on the way. All within a year of them meeting each other.
