"I'm feeling lucky" - Google!

That would almost make sense, but a guy at the last place I worked (in the IT department no less), used to go to google and type in say "BBC", or "Sky News", rather than use the address bar, as he said it was quicker.

I do that :o

As google is my homepage, its easier to click Home, then type, for example, BBC Football, rather than writing out www.bbc.co.uk, clicking Sport, then Football, or writing out the entire URL of the football page.

I also don't use Favorites, as everything pops up as i begin to write it into Google.

Been doing it like this for years now, never even think about using the address bar...

But, given that you have been there before, you would have to type what, news.bb before the address bar gives you pages you have already visited on http://news.bbc.co.uk/

Given that it takes all of 5 seconds to hit [ALT]+[D] (carat into address bar), and to type news.bb, surely its quicker to do this than go to google first, then type BBC Football, then click search, then click the correct URL. That's 3 page loads too, rather than one.

But as soon as i type BBC into google i get a list of BBC NEWS, BBC WEATHER and BBC NEWS (the 3 bbc pages i look at) click 'Im feeling lucky' and it takes me straight there.

It might take a second to click home (probably as long as it takes you to press ALT D, then the same time to start writing the address...

There really isn't anything in it...

Once knew a guy that went on Ask.com and searched Google, his reply "Just wanted to see if it worked"

I use it if I know what I'm looking for, but cannot remember the URL.

I have used the other Google "features" more frequently though, i.e. "DEFINE: xxxxxxxx"

Apparently, if you type "Google" in to Google you CAN break the internet ;)

Yes, and because I'm a cool dude I added it to LaunchBar so that I can do it from anywhere in the OS

Deffinatly,

Also a lot of people don't know about some of the more simple things you can do with google to help you searching for stuff.

Such as using "" to match exact strings

Or using * as a wildcard (eg: "Hitler came into power in *") will help you find your answer a lot quicker than having to skim read a wiki page for example.

Or using + to include words that would otherwise be filtered (eg +the who would probably bring up more relevent results for the band than searching the who where the "the" gets filtered out)(haven't tried that one)

And there are many more :) Well worth looking up if your not familiar with them and the others.
