hi ya what i am wanting to know if it is postable to get a wire and some adators to make my bro computer link up to the tv, due to he only has vga output and know hdmi

nope. HDMI is pure digital and VGA is pure analog.

Not true. Google VGA to HDMI, there are plenty of products out there, but I have no idea how good they are quality-wise as I've never tried them.

wouldnt it be better to just buy a cheap graphics card with dvi?

Not an adaptor, you need "standards converter" usually a few hundred quid.

No chance. You're into the realms of analog to digital convertor boxes which would be mega expensive. Better to buy a new laptop with DVI/HDMI or a TV with VGA input.

S-Video is terrible for connecting a computer to a TV.

That depends, if it's just for movies and to a CRT TV it'll be ok- and the best connection available anyway.

You can buy vga -> component cables relatively cheaply, though again I have no idea how good they are quality-wise.

Whats the card, sometimes they have a component out on the card ( I know my 8800gts does, and so did the 8600gt.).
