9800GTX - early review

Well I am just going to wait till the 1st to see the offical reviews. Right now on the fence between a GX2 (possibly quad down the road), or SLI'd 9800GTX's. If it turns out that at high res with 4xAA the 256bit and amount of memory on these new cards is going to severly affect the 9800GTX in SLI as badly it seems to be affecting the GX2 Quad in real world benches (according to the HardOCP review), then I might just go down the 8800gtx sli route.

Eh, their 9800 GX2 results were a bit strange last time - and they still seem a fair bit lower than your average reviewer's results - but it sure isn't doing badly for itself provided those results are to be trusted.

Edit: Also, would real GTS results have been so hard to put in? I mean really...

Seems according to tweaktown the cooler on this is pretty loud as well.

Tweaktown are hardly a dependable site, they always seem to get these "snuck out of the factory" samples of cards.

Y'know, just for the sake of your years of 'it's an overclocked GTS!' I'd love to see it do well. :p

I would as well, but i just dont think they have EOL'd the GX2 after a fortnight, as going from that, there is no reason to buy the much dearer GX2 now, not now that the GTX is on par with it, or faster in some, and is going to be about £100+ cheaper, i just can't see it. :p

When there are more benchmarks done, and we see the GTX scoring the same if not higher than the gx2, you can bet LoadsaMoney will be smiling. :D

I won't, ill be feeling it for all those who have splashed out £400+ on a GX2, ouch, id be livid if id just bought one if this is true, what an absolute kick in the ******** from Nvidia, 2 weeks later they release a faster single card thats much cheaper, effectively ending the life of the one they just bought. :(
