quick protein question

As well all know, to get best results at the gym we need to take in as much protein as possible. But my question is, when is the best time to eat protein? Before you work out? After you work out? Or does it not matter?

Personally i'd spread it out throughout the day with quick digesting proteins first thing in the morning and after workout (immediately after to make the most of the biological changes brought about by training), slower digesting rest of the day and before bed.

so it's a good idea to have something high in protein straight after you train?

yep it stops your muscles from trying to eat themselves and gives your body something to rebuild them with.
Most people have a whey shake after they train
 
i have 30g about 50 mins prior to a workout as well.
oh and its not as much as possible, remember that even podwer shakes have calories (180kcal or so for unflavoured in water (30g) iirc)

i've yet to buy any shakes etc, i just try and eat as much meat and eggs as possible, but i shall remember this, thanks.
 
by meat, what do you mean?
how many eggs? there is not that much protein in eggs really, you need to have a lot to compare to a shake.
 
i'm not really that bothered about it all, i just try and think about eating more meat where i can. eating more turkey with a roast, eating eggs whenever i have a choice etc. eggs contain around 25g of protein do they not?

the reason i havn't bought some whey is 'cause i don't really have the cash.
 
whey protein can be the cheapest thing in your diet. yes its an initial outlay, but the cost per 'meal' is cheap

an average egg will be about 6g of protein.

Reflex Natural Whey seems to be the best for price/taste/calories imo. 97 cals or so for 30g in water. Not that i care about calories when 50g of maltodextrin gets whacked on top. :p

compared to 5kg price matched of unflavoured from someone like MP?
 
I've meant to try and order from there, but i'm not in during the day to sign for it and i can't get stuff delivered to work. Might try and find a way. Do they sell stuff without aspartame or ascefulame k in?
 
My protein comes from:

breakfast: 1 boiled egg white with 1 glass whole milk
snack: 2 glasses whole milk
lunch: 2 glasses whole milk, some chicken
pre work: 2 glasses whole milk chicken
post work: 3 glasses whole milk with 3 scoops protein (about 75g altogether)
Dinner: chillie with chicken pizza
snack: 2 glasses whole milk
pre bed: 3 glasses milk 4 egg white scrambled eggs with chicken

comes to about 290g of protein
 
and four girls and lots of alcohol? :p
my friend told me if u fry or boil the egg it reduces the portien, is this true?
I think it reduces the bioavailibility, but i'll need to check that.

Might be worth getting intouch with interlink express, who are their courier. As far as I can tell it's additive free.
