£4-5k to spend..

I meant when mapped, no one in their right mind keeps their VRS standard :)

I considered going for a VRS (decided I couldn't justify the extra cost) - I would have been stepping up considerably in the performance stakes from a 1.8 Mondeo.

It's likely I would have kept it standard at first and only once I was used to the extra power/bored would I have considered remapping.

See, you said once you are used to it standard you will consider it. That plays on every octy drivers mind until they can't take it anymore and just get it done. <£500 for 40-50bhp, who can resist!

Yep, cost me £200 over a year ago, goes like the wind now compared to standard. Add into that a rear anti roll bar (£125) and some quality 225 rubber and youre away with a transformed car!

I need to get decent rear ARB for mine soon, that and some upgraded powerflex bushes.

Oh... and a CAI, exhaust, 100 cel cat, stage 2 remap.

;)

If I could find a cheap exhaust Id wop that on but I cant justify the cost new for the performance gains.

Tell me about it, it's like £700 for a new turbo back system. No way I can justify that, if it was around £400 I probably would have already bought it :o

Don't you have something to do today.......

Not really.... I could phone my insurance company to see if they stick on a crazy percentage to my premium for a rear ARB like they did for a remap.

OP- Meant to say this in my last post, for your budget and specific performance requirements a remapped vRS does make a lot of sense.

Remap is one of those mods I wouldn't declare. Its just something they wouldn't look for and if they did find it, just say you know nothing about it. You can't deny you didn't notice and exhaust, you can easily deny knowing anything about an ECU flash.
There is such a thing as too honest ;)

So what happens if they DO check and the date of the map is on the ecu (it would be) and the date falls within when you owned the car on the v5? :o

I'm only saying this because I declared mine :(

Ask for the date it gets flashed with to be before you owned the car then.....

I bet on the train, if no conductor comes you also leave your ticket money on the seat. :)

I don't think it's as simple as "change the date m8", infact pretty sure they wouldn't be able to do that!!

...oh and I don't catch the train (it's too cheap and not fast enough) :D
