Tell me about Seat Ibiza's

ROFL:confused:

The 172 / 182 are still the best of the hot hatches gone bye, pretty much perfect in every way and for once, they were a car that delivered everything a hot hatch was supposed to without disappointment.

The Ibiza Cupra are however a disappointment, not a patch on the Leon Cupra/R either.

Your money though.

I'm sorry dude, just because it's in your words "perfect in every way, and delivered everything a hot hatch should be" does not mean I automatically want it.

330 E46's are fantastic cars, I do not want one though.

I'm yet to test drive one yet, I might not even like it!

So the size doesnt appeal to you? Although its the same size as the Ibiza.
The performance doesnt appeal to you? Although its quicker than the Ibiza
Perhaps the bodystyle? Although its the same as the Ibiza
Perhaps then you dont like the handling? Although it handles better than the Ibiza
Maybe the level of equipment? Although it has more than the Ibiza.

How can you both be considering an Ibiza AND saying NOTHING about a Clio appeals? :p

To add to your list

More likely to end up upsidedown in a ditch than an Ibiza;):D

Size isn't that much of an issue, I just don't want another tank.

Oh it is.

I think it's ugly If I'm being honest.

Perhaps then you dont like the handling? Although it handles better than the Ibiza

Another very appealing factor.

Maybe the level of equipment? Although it has more than the Ibiza.

Luxurys do not bother me, you know this.

I didn't say nothing of the Clio appeals :p. I said I don't find myself wanting one. :)

Its not just my words though.

Considering how much a good Ibiza 180 will cost you, if you can find one..they didn't sell many, there are simply better cars for the money not just the clio.

Phate, you remind me of my girlfriend in a shoe shop.

She can look at a hundred different pairs of shoes and still end up buying a pair that are uncomfortable, look stupid, cost the earth and fall apart after a few months :D

You don't get it do you dude?

There are loads of cars out there better than the Ibiza, Clio being a prime example. But just because it's better on performance, handling, (in your opinion) looks, and price

doesn't mean I want one.

Celica GT4 is better than a Scooby but I don't want a Celica, I want a Scooby.

Having what is considered "the best" is not my main concern.

Having a car which I want, and I'll enjoy, and will take pleasure in owning is :)

I find myself wanting a high spec Ibiza, not a Clio. Sure a test drive in each could completely switch my opinion, I said in a previous post I'll go for a test drive in one. But just because a few folk on a forum say it's a brilliant car does not mean I automatically want one ;)

No, you very definately said 'nothing about it appeals' :)

With cars its not always black and white and whats better etc.. its what someone likes and they may trade off lots of things to get it, be it luxury, economy etc.. personal preference. People like Ford Focus Saloons FFS :D

I do get it m8 and as I have already said its your money, I am not saying you have to buy a clio.....however I am giving you a truthful answer from experience, which you don't seem to want to hear in that the Ibiza is a long way from its rivals.

They are not a bad car but considering what you will need to pay to get a goodun then at least take the time to drive a good selection and keep an open mind.

I never stated "I only want to hear positive things in this thread otherwise get out" its an open based discussion forum. I'm fully aware of this :p

I appreciate your feedback, and said, it doesn't really appeal to me, but I'll take one for a test drive.

Which is what I'm going to do  I never once said I'm going to drive the Cupra and that's it.

Whats your budget anyway? Have you thought about a 106GTI or Saxo VTS, you can find mint examples with low mileage for a couple of K these days.

For driver fun they are great bang for buck + at some point you can guarantee they will go bang lol.

Take it an RX8 190 is out your budget at this stage? as they are getting pretty cheap now even with low mileage.

So much choice really..

7k is my budget really.

If I wait another month it'll be 8. I thought nobody knew anything about RX8's so if they go wrong your in trouble

Mazda know a fair bit about the RX8s and their service charges arn't too bad. :p

Afaik they have had a good run without to many reliability issues. I have come close to buying one a couple of times. The 190 is just as usable as the 230 unless your on a track. The two things that stopped me were my 172 and the potential fuel bill.

the RX8 drinks petrol for fun though.

I used to have an '04 Ibiza, i liked it but it was badly put together inside, the plastics didn't fit properly, the rear cup holder would never EVER sit properly and just popped out, it was apart from that a nice car to be in, the centre console was well designed with its climate control etc, for its price range anyway.

Incidentally, didn't you own a 728i? If so, how can you not find that VAG diesel hideously unrefined!?

Yes I did own a 728i. I don't compare the Seats engine to that in the BMW, compared to many previous diesels that I've driven, it is quite refined! I'm not saying that its the most refined just that compared to many its ok pure & simple. ;)

It suffered from torque steer if you were heavy footed with it, as will my Mondeo tbh, the remote central locking had a mind of its own and the radio would only pick up Spanish Stations...... :D

Not the best car in the world, but a car that in the past I'd have freely dismissed without a thought and now, given the requirement for a small car, would happily seriously consider.

The Ibiza Cupra is a nice looking car with the Cupra bodykit not a fan of the interior though, driven one round a track before and the brakes are superb (rebadged 4 pot APs) handling was OK not on par with a Clio for bodyroll/turn in etc although the superb brakes and extra torque out of the corners help it keep surprisingly close on the track.

To get them to there best a remap to 220bhp/300lbft ish and uprated suspension will transform the car making the handling on par if not a little better than the Clio but quicker on the straights and better under braking. I think this is why people buy them as its cheap to get the extra performance out of them. I don't think I have heard of a Clio getting tunned to 220bhp bet it would cost a few K though compared to £300 for a remap.

Not sure how fast the Ibiza Cupra's are but I couldn't shake a Clio 182 from my ass (nor could he gain on me) and I'm in an LCR !

I would definitely be considering a hot clio. Tempted to buy one for the missus and "borrow" it every now and again ;)

the ibizas are cracking motors especially with the 1.8T lump say it was good rather than great in most departmentts but the tuning potential more than makes up for it, one of the boys on seatcupra.net is running 370 bhp in his and didnt cost "silly" money

surpised noones mentioned it seeing as theres that many here own one but what about a Leon Cupra R?

can pick up a nice example for under your budget(theres no realy difference between the 210 and the 225 (0.2 seconds to sixty and 3mph topend and both can be remapped to 265/270 bhp for a few hundred pounds,

food for thought..........

The insurance really seems to rack up when it comes to the LCR. I'd love one!

I'll be ringing my insurance company today and a friend of mine works for Adrian Flux so I'll be asking her for a quote as well. See what can be done :)

Double check the insurance costs of the Ibiza and see about a Leon as well.
