For god sake can't they just go to work like everyone else etc. They're compaining about a 4.5% pay rise yet the bbc says that London train drivers are on about £40k

So we're priced off the roads and priced off the trains due to greedy tossers. Nice...

God I wouldn't say no! :o

Any train drivers on here or anyone in the know as to why their job is worth 40k a year? Becuase from where im sitting it dosent look like they do any more/less work than avg joe on a lot less.

Would you want to be a train driver? A bus driver or a tube driver?
There has to be an upside for these people; especially in London. Fancy being gobbed at on a routine drive through London at night? Fancy death threats? Being started on? Just a small plastic cage separating you from being kicked in by some idiot over the price of a bus fare? Over you doing your job?

Didn't think so. Even if our public transport is a sham.

train drivers are locked away in a cabin so i doubt they have as many issues as a bus driver? and 40k a year and 4.5% pay rise STFU and take it be grateful you get that much of a payrise.

this isnt bus drivers, its train drivers. Theres more than a small cage, its a secured room.
Good on them tbh, the amount of ******* money the underground rakes in everyday i think they are entitled to spit their dummys out and want a cut of it the profit.

But being a tube driver you have the horrible risk of getting "One under" which can't be nice

They earn their money imho, they are responsible for hundreds of people at a time, even if most of them are French Tourists.... :p

How can they not be happy with that? :/

£40,000 per year, at 4.5%? Declining that is disgustingly greedy.

Fair play to them if they can get away with it. What I don't get is why more people don't become train drivers?

Because I didn't know they got £40k.

I thought it was common knowledge for quite some time that train drivers were well paid. There's usually a thread about it every time there's a strike, which lets face it, is quite often :p

I'm sorry for anyone who is affected by this strike, but no-one would give a damn if train drivers were being laid off, given pay cuts, told to work longer hours etc so they aren't going to give a damn about you.

One less person here while I'm still only 17 :p

Get the Poles in, I'm sure they'll do just as good a job for a lot less money. They might even be polite too! :)

One thing I've noticed working with lots of poles.

Sure they may work hard but:

a) NO understanding of health and safety (They will just leave dollys of stock in front of fire exits)
b) VERY LOW standards (Yesterday one was telling me that a frozen cheesecake that had been out in the warm over night was fine to go back on the shelf)

Maybe it's just the ones I work with :o
