*** STOLEN 2006 FORD FIESTA ST ***

6 weeks is far to long, some people have to have a car, no option, no car no job. Hard luck mate, hope it turns up either a reck or as you left it.

As above, 6 weeks is taking the biscuit.

Are all insurance companies like this? =/

anyway for the op. Hope you find the car / get the payout soon mate. :( Propper crappy luck.

6 weeks is completely ridiculous. Is there anything in the T&Cs in your Insurance documents about a 6 week wait?

My advice is to keep an eye on eBay, good chance of it turning up there. Not that eBay or the police do anything about the tonnes of stolen goods on there

6 weeks is ridiculous, write to the MD, and name and shame the company all over the motoring forums on the net as much as possilbe. Consumers have a lot of power in the insurance field, as there are tons of companies to choose from.

I'm sorry to hear about your car, but I agree with other people, if my car was stolen, and I had the chance of getting it back, I'd say "no thanks", and take the money.

You really can be un-necessarily an insensitive ***** sometimes Fox, there really was no need, the guy has just had his car stolen.

but, its the first thing everyone else thought, along with ytf arnt you on the phone to your insurance company and just getting the money back

After all this time I can honestly say that I am fed up with chasing the insurance company and being on the phone to them!

No sign of the car whatsover since it was taken and literally they have only just settled with me today! Should get the cheque next week - luckily I've had my replacement ST for almost a month now so I could fight it out to push the money up a bit.

Glad to hear you have a new car and that the insurance company has paid up. I do not think 6 weeks is an excessive amount of time to wait, cars do get recovered and insurance companies do need the ability to find out whether they are being ripped off.

I had an Audi TT stolen some time back, it was found two weeks later on the side of the road, "undamaged" I got it sorted then sold as soon as I could.

If you think 6 weeks is along time to wait for a payout, I have only just settled a flood claim on my house from June last year.

How was he supposed to get around in the meantime?

Most insurance companies over here where i live normally pay for a hire car...(or i know they do this if your car off the road because of a crash)

Insurance companies won't pay for a hire car unless there is a 3rd party that they can claim the money back from. Basically with a stolen claim where the car isn't recovered you are shafted until they pay up!

I struggled for 5ish weeks without a car but I had to gamble that it wouldnt be found and got a new one. Suffice to say the replacement has slightly more sophisticated security ;)
