The car is a Y reg 2001. It has had 4 previous owners?, the guy is selling it on behalf of his dad who does not like the manual in the car, apparantly the Focus will go to his friend as his daughter is looking for a small first car. Recently had a new MOT and 4 brand new tyres. The rear subframe bushes have also been replaced with powerflex ones and the car has new NSR calipers. Which apparantly are a common problem on the MK3?

Anyway what do you guys think. I'm seriously considering this but I feel I will miss the handling of the Focus and the free revving engine. The V6 will require no effort to get moving where as the Focus does and that's part of the appeal. Another hassle is taking all the ST mods I just put on back off again :o

Hmmm. Desicions.

Mk3 or MK2? if its the 2, i wouldnt bother, if its the 3 then go for it, better than a 316/318 you were looking at a while back tbh.

Insurance goes up £535 which would then make the total paid £1400 Fully Comp. Not too bad tbh. Only way I can get around 170BHP for a reasonable insurance cost at my age (18)

Do you want to make the jump from a small (although good) runabout to a bigger motorway cruiser? And as for the engine, after a 6 pot, you will NOT miss a 4 pot, no matter how free reving!

Tbh, if it were I, I would not have asked here first, I'd have gone & bought it & then come back posted pics of it!

Sounds good to me, go for it Tom.

to be honest i'm one of the one who viewed but didnt reply. Its difficult to know what to say

you've put so much time effort and money into the focus, then want to switch to a mondeo V6. Why oh why where you ploughing money into the focus when you were obviously yearning for something with more HP ?

its difficult to know what to advise, its clearly a step up, but considering the work done to the focus, its only you who know if the hassle will be worth it for the extra bhp.

I wasn't yearning for something with more HP as such but browsing Pistonheads and I saw it come up and rang the guy up out of curiousity.

Now the offer he has put on the table is pretty interesting, if my car was still standard I'd probs have agreed there and then but the time and effort putting into modding my car is putting me off somewhat. MrLOL you are right in this respect.

Tough decision tbh. I could get the money back on the ST mods off my Focus, they are very sought after. It's just the faff on taking them all off and reverting back to standard.

Also the more and more I look at it the more I see it as something my old man would drive :p

(Not necessarily a good thing)

Probably no for me, i would keep the focus as it looks really nice and you have put a lot of effort in to it.
