Just a few shots from my recent trip to NYC Manhattan. The first is entered into the comp so please no judges comments. All shots taken on the Sigma 10-20mm with a Nikon D80.

1. Photo taken from a helicopter over Manhattan. (400 ISO)

2. Taken off the back of a double decker tourist bus.

3. Empire State Building

4. Chrysler Building - playing with saturation and removed the foreground.

Thanks for the comments guys. @ Bes - yeah #4 was a bit experimental and really was the result of a crap photo but it was the only one of the Chrysler Building that was different and not quite so clichéd.

I like the second best. I know the first was taken with the 10-20 (and probably at 10), but there's a bit too much barrel distortion going on for my liking.

i really like no1 but cant help feeling all the buildings are leaning to the left?

Top pictures of a fantastic city. No 2 is a real jaw dropper... just lovely. Very nicely done.

I never had a SLR on my trips to NY but thats all changed now :) so I can't want to go back this year.

like no.2 the best, not that impressed with the 1st though and 4 just doesn't work in my opinion.

Cheers Wez, I also prefer number 2 over the other ones but also like the Empire State one - it really was one of those shots where you get surprised by the result on the camera screen. I do wonder how hard it would be to skew number 1 a little so the buildings are straight. 4 was just an experiment but I think in a way it has impact but you are right, it's not the best of the series.

And these are a perfect example of why i want a better camera. the pics i took with a cheap point and click (left my canon half decent one at home so bought a cheapy one while in NY) were crap :<

love the second shot, composition works really well for me.

i think the first could have been much better with a none centred horizon and also the most dominating building not being in the centre of the frame. it makes an annoying cross in the middle of the shot which i'm not feeling. the sky is great though.
