Looking at new cars, what are my fuel options?

I'm potentially in the market for a new car, and would be interested in one of the new types of fuel, but I don't know anything about cars so need some advice.

Obviously there is petrol and diesel (I have diesel right now) but I have heard of LPG, dual electric (Prius?), even hydrogen. I travel about 100 miles a day of mostly motorway miles so fuel economy is a priority for me (lowest cost per week) I don't really need speed, just something that's comfortable at 70-80.

Any advice on what fuel types and models in particular are out there now would be appreciated.

Thanks

TDI mondeo?
Someone will no doubt correct me but I think the duel fuel on priuses (spelling) only kicks in when pottering round town, if its on a motorway you'd want a cruiser.

100 miles a day, I'd go for an oil burner (diesel). Petrol will obviously just be more expensive. A prius might be good on fuel, but it will make your spin disolve and your shoes turn to sandals, don't be "that guy". Hydrogen, might have a problem refueling! Same with LPG really. I'd stick with good old diesel. The honda 2.2 TDCI engine is very good on the old fuel.

I'm not a big fan of Mondeos. And you're probably right on the Prius - I would spend 90% of my journey on petrol anyway.

With the price of diesel going way up does it still work out more economical than petrol? I know petrol is going up also but the difference between them seems to be more nowadays.
