It seems theres hardly any big releases at all nowadays, maybe 1 or 2 a year?! these days most are playing COD4, TF2 or Crysis no 'intresting' games..

what else is there this year except Alan Wake and Fallout 3 to look forward to (both which will probably end up on the 360 first)?

yeah ive been out of the gaming loop for a few years (mostly because theres been jack **** worth playing). Last games I bought was Stalker and the Orange Box..anyway reason for the post is i was thinking of getting a powerful laptop as i dont have a pc at the moment and i want to play games on it (inc my pretty big backlist). But im wondering if i should wait but then again i dunno..and i do need a lappy..

ok like i said ive been outta the loop for a while, so what upcoming games are there to look forward to? I dont play online games either so they dont count :) thanks

Oh we get this every month or so people whining that there is nothing to play.

Just thank god you don't have a PS3. lol.

There are plenty of fantastic games out to play at the moment, and numerous games to look forward to over the coming months.

such as what?

Some fantastic 'titles' and 'idea's' coming out, but very few putting words into action.

Endless disappointments due to increased competition and revenue in the gaming market. It's wider now, so the push to get games out the door now is greater than ever. Days of 4yrs in production are over as of now. As a result, games are release unfinished and bugged, always bugged. MMO's are THE prime example of this and ONLY WoW is actually a complete state, the rest just adding crap that should've been in release as they go along.

That's what's happened. Thankfully, there's still the likes of Valve and Infinity ward who still take pride in what they produce and don't take gamers for idiots. The PC's ability to patch games has been taken for granted.

Well if you don't play online games then gaming may not be for you anymore:( Cod 4 i completed in 6 hours but have logged 20 odd hours into the mutiplayer:rolleyes:
I know exactly what you mean by 'intresting' games, but the only epics i can think of coming out will be on PS3 - metal gear 4, New Final fantasy and resident evil 5...

In terms of recent singleplayer games to check out half life 2 episode 2, bioshock and crysis are all great (when forum goers start whineing about them just check out the reviews, you'll know it makes sense;) )

Wow was always going to 'be in a state' think about it. CS one of the most successful online games is in pretty much the same state it was on realease, it works because it's simple, sure little tweaks to the code are needed here and there but it's nothing. An MMO is extreamly complex, when i first heard you had hundreds dare i say thousands on one server i was amazed  Geez battlefield 1942 got me impressed but that was just plain crazy! By the very nature of the game new content needs to be added to keep people happy, new limits need to be set, and things changed on a VERY large scale this was always gonna fail in the end.

yeah aint played any of those yet. Well i got bored of Bioshock after playing the demo..ive heard Crysis is 50% amazing/50% crap (when it gets to the aliens/mines or whatever..). I defo need to play through the HL2 expansions though and i did like Far Cry so will get Crysis when it goes to budget.

I gave up with pc gaming in er 2005 and got me a 360. Haven't regretted that decision as I've played heaps of games thanks to that thing. However what has frustrated me lately is that games are taking too long to come out. I'm sick of waiting.

I cba with gaming in general anymore. Top titles take so long that I'll be in a zimmer by the time they arrive. I'm 32 atm and hate to think when the sequel to Mass Effect, Dead Rising etc arrive, never mind a Valve title!

Most of the big guns are turning to the console market firstly before releasing titles on the PC and I can see that getting more and more commonplace as EA borg every company in existence.

Valve and Blizzard come to mind atm as the big PC gaming devs.

There are plenty of games for PC, and plenty of new ones. There just aren't many PC exclusives, and many these days play great on consoles.

I got very tired of gaming on my PC. Still plenty that I would like to get through game-wise, but would just rather be gaming on my 360 on the big tele in the comfort of my beanbag...

At least, for now, I have been cured of my addiction to upgrading my PC :D

FPS's/MMO's are something that i'll never, ever play on a console due to restrictions and for that reason alone, my PC will be kept at the forefront.

Don't play MMO's... but used to feel the same about FPS games on console. Am getting used to shooters with a controller now though :D

Only real problem I have with console gaming is the other half wanting to use the tele... :)

In the past year, I have thoroughly enjoyed:

Psychonauts
The Witcher
Sam & Max episodes
Heroes of Might & Magic 5 expansions

Never even bothered with COD4 because FPSs don't do it for me any more, and I only completed Crysis for the sake of the hype.

Looking forward to:

Spore
Alan Wake

only game i play now is cs 1.6....probably cos its the best online game ever made

its all about online, if it sucks online, no-one will play it

Since you're not into shooters you've probably missed out on The Witcher and the flood of real-time strategy games we got last year (Command & Conquer 3 and Supreme Commander).

Sins Of A Solar Empire seems to also be widely raved about.

I think there are a few games coming out on the pc that are worth waiting for - like Operation Flashpoint 2, Empire Total War etc etc. The sort of games that just don't work on consoles. But I do agree that games are taking longer to produce and thus taking longer to come out. I think part of the problem is we as the paying public are perhaps expecting too much from new titles. But then I blame the hardware "hype" for the hysteria regards new graphics cards/new this and that. I don't envy games producers these days. It can't be easy.
