I’m looking to buy a new graphics card soon but am a bit unsure about which brand to go for. Brands like PNY point of view I've never heard of before, Gigabyte and Asus are well know and there are several others I've heard of but have no idea if they are any good or not. So is there a brand to go for or are they all much of a much?

Second question. The options I've looked at so far are

2*9600 approx £230
3780X2 approx £250
8800GT approx £140
8800GTS approx £180

I'd like not to spend over £200 if I can help it but if the 3870X2 is 30% faster then the GTS then I would seriously consider it. Or is there another option I've missed.

Opinions and advice very much welcome.

Other system info: This is purely for gaming and I pretty much only play WoW. 22" monitor and AMD 3700 SD and 2 gig of RAM. Not a kick ass system but seems to work pretty well for everything bar PvP in WoW. I will be upgrading the CPU etc at a later date.

Fastest there are the 2*9600.

Just go for the cheapest, allthough if you want plenty of warranty then BFG are good, PNY have been around a long time and are just as good as most of them.

If you're just playing Wow an 8800GT or 9600GT should do the job nicely tbh :).

Thanks for answering Will. I'm leaning toward the GTS but just out of curiosity how much faster would the 2*9600 be? 20%? 30%? Just trying to work out what would be the best bang for my buck now as i dont intend to upgrade again for another 2 or 3 years.

The 9600's are going to rely on SLI which means the game has to be able to cater for it. I personally have found SLI to not be that good. Personally go for a single card

Most modern games are SLi enabled. IMO I would have saved the money and got the chespest 8800GT tbh.
