8800GTS and power supply

im looking to upgrade whole pc in the next week or so, and have pretty much decided on the parts.
im bringing over an existing PSU i bought from OCUK bout this time last year, its a Colorsit 600w with 30a 12v and 35a on 5v. im not sure whether this is good or bad

now im opting for a 8800 gts but am slightly confused re power connections. i currently have a x1950 pro (agp) connected with 1 6 pin plug, but have seen that the GTX cards have 2 6 pin plugs.

is this the case for the GTS or is it 1 plug? if it is 2, how do i get around this?

p.s. will the above PSU be enough for q6600 and 2gb pc-8500 ram? im looking to overclock the q6600

cheers guys

psu is fine and if its the g92 gts then only one 6pins connector is needed.i think the g80 gts is two like the gtx

Id upgrade to a decent PSU tbh, those are a cheapo brand like Q-Tec those Colorsit's, best off buying a decent quality brand, as if it goes, chances are it will take everything with it, where as decent PSU's have protection for that, so if they go, then its only the PSU that goes, and it may say 600w 30a on the 12v rail's, but it could be nowhere near that.

This one here :- http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-006-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1084 would handle it all fine, excellent quality PSU's those, and won't break the bank if you'ld like to keep the price down.

New PSU here.

170 on a gfx card then plug it into a cheapo PSU...

False economy and pure maddness.

well the psu was bout 50 squid a year ago, and it seems a bit pointless spending another 50 on a 'decent' psu just for the sake of having something 'decent'.
whatever happened to "if it aint broke, dont fix it"?

A blown 170 quid GFX card or mobo.

The most important component in any PC is the PSU...

Period.

Thats the bottom line.

You risk a lot with a mediocre one.

A few years ago I had a 450 watt colorsit that used to get so hot when playing farcry that it warmed the roof of my case to the touch. At the time it was only powering a barton 3200, a8nx-x, 1gb ddr400, 80gb hdd and a 9800pro. I soon upgraded to a 430 watt enermax noisetaker and couldn't believe how heavy it was compared to the colorsit (heavy normally means its of good quality).

I'm not sure how good colorsits psu's are nowadays but I don't think I'd buy one again, infact I know I wouldn't, but if you're dead-set on keeping it then I guess I can only wish you good luck that it'll do a sufficiant job.
