Guys,

I'm about to build the spec as shown within sig. I'm planning on using vista business as i have a free copy. Will there be any difference in performance etc if i don't go vista ultimate 64 bit?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

I'd say go with 64-bit, then get another 2GB RAM (only about £35 for 2GB these days), I noticed a huge difference in Vista as I recently went from using 2GB-4GB

Ultimate is not worth the extra as far as I know. I use business and it good for all tasks including gaming. As Craig123 said 64-bit is superb with 4GB of RAM

I'm in the same boat, I have free copies of both Vista Business x86 and x64, I can't justify spending money just for the media center software in the other versions.

TBH, i think its just vista business x86. I assume that my mobo and cpu are 64 capable. As i understand it, the biggest advantage of using 64 bit is in the OS's utilization of RAM, hence the huge difference you guys have been seeing when upgrading from 2-4gb.

What does everyone think?

Sorry, im a bit of a noob at this stuff:P Are you saying that i need to borrow someones 64bit copy and use my 32bit key for it?

So i could, errr download one of the regularly available copies on the internet and use my key?

yes thats what i thought. I was just trying to think of how i might get a copy without having to pay for it, considering i already have a legit key.

You would be "able" to download and use a copy of Vista, shouldn't be illegal as such as you would be using a legitimate key, which is basically what you pay for with Microsoft products :)

You can't send off for the x64 disc if it's OEM!

All the easily available Vista copies are no key required Dell versions.
Probably best just to ask MS for a copy seeing as you have a key...
