Legal battle over Warcraft 'bot'

1. Play on a pvp server = bot end of.
2. It's never really bothered me tbh, griefing & abuse is a far bigger problem imo

Blizzard know who these accounts are all they have to do is filter the server logs, but then ban half the game population suddenly the game doesnt look so great.

I hope they lose this, all the bots and gold sellers are a result of blizzards game design. Respec costs, raid repairs, flying mounts and then there is honour/arena point grinding. Half the time I feel im grinding just so that I can cover the ingame costs before I can play.

People who use bots to level up are easy to spot once they're level 70.

They're the people with no clue how to play their class, and can't get into decent guilds and raids because of it.

And its that kind of arrogant selfishness that made me quit.

Since I started playing my mage as my main, with flask costs (not exalted with scryer\sha'tar\CE yet), mana pots and respec costs (Curse you Al'ar and Hydross) I now have to spend the first hour I play each night doing dailies to cover repairs. I used to either do a heroic or just chat with guildies for the hour before raid, now I have to earn 70-100g to cover raid costs. Utter fail.

If I could afford to buy WoW gold I would. I play to have fun, not to have a 2nd job.

How is that arrogant and selfish? Do you not agree that after levelling a character to 70, you would have at least half an idea of how to play that class, whereas a botted character has none of this benefit because they have a huge bar full of skills and have no idea what to use in which situation? I don't find an ounce of arrogance or selfishness in his post at all, so I have no idea what was said / done that made you quit.

It's not Blizzard that's caused the game to be like this, it's the elitists that are constantly forcing this sort of thing upon other people within the game, because they think you're crap without all the pots / talent spec / flasks / gear. You can't even join a premade PvP group without having a base resilience of 300 and ridiculous gear. To be quite honest, it's totally unnecessary to have that sort of thing. I never struggled in PvP before when resilience wasn't around, and I still don't struggle now with 150 resilience, so why 300 is needed is beyond me. It's the elite kiddies that have the insatiable lust for winning that have made the game how it is right now. I'm sure Blizzard didn't intend these kind of extremes when they put stuff like this into the game.

...stuff...

My guild doesn't even qualify as an 'elitist' guild, but for progress nights (We're in MH\BT atm, just got in before 2.4) we're expected to be fully prepared. I agree with that in all honesty, I just think the cost of things like flasks\foods etc are ridiculous.

As for botted characters? Got no time for them at all, it really infuriates me as like many people have said it trashes the spawn points of valuable items and makes farming those items even more tedious as the areas are over ran with bots.

Because to play the game at the highest level, you do need lots of consumables. You may not struggle in crappy AV with your 150 resilience and zero potting, but you try playing arena games at a 2k rating without 400 resilience and see how quickly you get the crap kicked out of you. And try raiding end-game with any sort of hope of clearing content without potting and buffing to the hilt. Sure, you'll clear stuff in a few months when Blizzard capitulate to the casual whiners and nerf encounters, but until that happens, you won't get far.

And all this cost lots of in game gold, hence why people have to play for 1-3 hours to cover the costs to play a game that is meant to be fun.

No wonder people who have played for 3+ years are leaving, why bother paying fora game you have to work in to play, or spend a couple of quid on some gold and go enjoy the game, not hard to work out.

The only reason blizz are upset about it is they didnt think of it 1st and have lost out on another amount of money they could have got from us all...

wow someone else complaining they have to work at a game to actually do well, hell why not just put illidan at the front of **** with a free epixs sign above him?

I normally spend 1 day a week having a laugh with guild mates while grinding mats for the weeks raids.

Actually, it's very common to find top level characters in any MMO that regardless of the fact they've spent that time getting to the max level, are clueless.

I remember having to try and explain SATA to a THF in FFXI a few times. All level 60s :(

I raid 5 nights a week, 4hrs per raid. I crafted all of the spellfire and spellstrike armour when I hit 70 and farmed Karazhan for about 6 weeks before I switched mains to my mage from my paladin. I'm not complaining because I have to work hard to progress. I'm complaining because on top of the challenges of actually raiding, it's a challenge just getting to the raid in the first place with all the consumables I need. :)

Its not a complaint, its a reason why people buy gold.

If i work mon - friday away from home, i get back home and i log on, only to find from 12-5 the guild is grinding mats, you really think im going to spend 5 hours in game running after the same mob time after time to try and get 5 bits of something....

why...

Go spend X amount of money and enjoy the 5 hours of the game having fun playing it instead of the constant grind...

Due to this thinking, i did what your going to suggest, I quit the game as it was no longer fun for the amount of time i have to play it. Takes to long to get a grp, takes to long to grind for rep to get things takes to long to do anything when you only have 5 hours one day a week. Is it any wonder people want to do the easy route for the fun of a game.

To me, and i still stand by this, the only reason bliz are upset over people buying gold is its taking money from them, that if they had thought about it, they would have done and made more money, now, bots are a different thing to me. But then again having to kill150000000 mobs to get the rep to get one other item is short sighted if you cant see that people will try to make it simpler for themselfs in a game that when it 1st came out, activley encourgae macros, looked at what people where doing, banned ones they didnt like and then incorporated the ones they did like.

People will go for the simple option, 5 weeks of grinding to get a map, or 2 hours of work to buy the gold to buy the mats.... doesnt take a maths expert to know what 9/10 people will do...

ColiN - hides from the incoming flak

I don't play the game. But, isn't that part of the challenge of end game content? Its not supposed to be easy to achieve the high level rewards, otherwise every man and his dog will have them and then everyone will be moaning about how easy it is to get stuff and demanding new content because all 10 million players have the end game gear.

Personally, having to spend a long time gathering the mats needed to do end game raids is what I would expect from a game. It also helps to keep those that cannot play the game away from areas that they truely shouldnt be involved in.

its got nothing to do with whiners its about blizzard making money ,think they care more about the hardcore ? its still £9 a month doesnt matter how much you play .

But thats the point. Grinding mats in WoW is not challenging, it's bloody boring. Ergo people will buy gold.
