I'm about to go out and buy an XBox 360 Premium (the HDMI version). My TV is a 26" 26PF5520D/10 that only has 2 x SCART, 1 x DVI and Components.

On the Phillips website in the FAQ's it says to connect an XBox 360 to the TV you need a VGA cable and then a VGA - DVI connector (as seen here http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/...TV_GR&cat=FLAT_TV_CA&sct=LCD_MEDIUM_21_29_SU#). I was wondering whether its worth going out and buying the VGA cable or am I better off getting a HDMI to DVI connector and doing it that way?

Jay is my mate. He's mistaken components with composite so don't all rush in telling him to use the supplied component cable.

The xbox 360 comes with a component cable, which is compatible with your tv. There is no need to go out and buy a VGA cable and DVI connector, component is the best looking source anyway imo.

I looked up the tv on Google and it has a component input.

VGA and HDMI easily beat component for IQ.

I would go HDMI > DVI because the two are guaranteed to be compatible - an all-digital signal. By going VGA > DVI you are asking for possible trouble if your DVI interface won't accept the DVI-I analogue signal. That's what happened with mine when I bought a VGA > DVI lead.

According to the big rainforest e-tailor is does have a component input. @Jay: Does it have 3 plugs on the back coloured Green/Blue/Red?

You state that as fact, it completely depends on the tv. I personally have never seen a tv where VGA beats component for IQ. Usually I find component has more vivid colours but VGA is sharper.

NO it doesn't... Or would you rather take Ama...'s word over the manufacturer?!!?!? Download the manual and see pages 21 and 22 if you aren't prepared to take my word for it.

To clarify.. On the back of the TV there's DVI, DVI 3.5mm audio input, and 2 * Scart. On the side there's S-VHS, Composite video, audio left/right and headphones. That's it.

Calm down dear...

It's just not common to find a HDTV only having DVI as a HD input.
