The male anorexia...

V3g3tto you're life and habbits are just to close to mine, it's slightly scary in all honesty! So far I'd already replaced my lack of breakfast with a protein shake and eating 4 meals (even if they are small) a day.

It's been a week of the "new me" so far, put on more weight than i have in the last few months and feeling...ok so far.

Hmm im 9 stone ish at 5'9 ish so underweight by a bit. I could do with putting some weight on/going to the gym but I am not particularly bothered by it.

Like i said, i'm unfit and eat unhealthily, maybe eat one meal a day, maybe 4, never breakfast, maybe go all day just on a pizza, goto pub jsut on a sandwich and drink all night.

Sounds very much like my lifestyle, I just eat when im hungry. No set times really.

I'm 5'10" and i'm 10 stones. I've tried everything in terms of diet for 4 months and still haven't broken the 10 stone barrier. I want more body mass. When I see magazines and pictures of male models it used to make me want to be like them. Now i've accepted who I am and i'm working with what I can do for myself and how I can improve myself.

That's prob the most true statement in the history of OcUK.

It really isn't, it wasn't the first time it was said and it isn't true now. Don't confuse being a nice guy with doing nothing and getting stuck being a friend. You can be nice but be interesting with it and you'll probably find that you do fine with women, sure there are probably some hopeless cases but that is their loss not yours.

I never eat the weight watchers meals (don't like any pre-made freezer crap) and certainly don't survive on bread and water. I have toast or cereal for breakfast, a couple of sandwiches or a salad for lunch and a proper home-cooked meal when I get home. I can cook an amazing shepherds pie, lasagne or curry and it still only come to around 8-10 points per serving.
The scoring thing works for me as I have problems judging portion sizes without weighing stuff (hence my size previously).
Would be interested to find out other ways of eating healthily though if you're offering.

Even though i'm dishing out advice i don't take, i feel the basic food groups are what things should be judged by. Carbohydrates for energy, Protein for Muscle, Calcium for Bones, vitamins for immune systems, etc, at it's most basic.

Personally, if i was losing weight, i'd avoid potatoes and such. You don't wanna be eating energy that your body already has stored in fat. I'd eat a lot of fish and eggs, full of protein, low on fat, healthy oils, filling. I'd say an ideal meal (not in taste) would be grilled salmon with poached egg and rice.

Also the points system doesn't account for excercise (i don't think) to up certain food groups if you up your routine, else you're body will go all over the shop.

That's really only one thing and although supplements are frowned upon, they really do help for lean muscle mass (which again is somethign neglected, lack of protein, you'll loe weight but be flabby still).

Off-topic a bit, i'd advise everyone to avoid Diet coke, i'd do a goole research on it for those who drink it. It contains a chemical which builds up in your body...stopping it from effectively burnign fat cells. Thats right, if drank in good quantities, it makes you gain weight lol :)

I don't really have a problem with my body image. Have never read a lads' mag in my life, if it does make any difference. I could be a bit taller, but I'm not going to get any bigger now, so it's not the end of the world. I wouldn't mind maybe getting a bit of weight off, but I always put on loads when I'm away from uni, so that's no surprise. When I'm there, I don't eat as much and exercise far more, so I end up replacing flab with (some) muscle.

5'10" and about 11.11 (1.78m and 74.8kg for those who don't understand :p)

I'm over 6" and around 10 stone so could do with bulking up a bit. The thing is I'm a very fussy eater so my rather limited diet is holding me back. Once that's sorted out it should become slightly easier.

Otherwise I'm fairly content with my image.

Completely, and every woman worth her salt will tell you the same.

not saying you need to be a wet blanket but what's the point having an amazing body if you're still a ****** on the inside? I'd rather be overweight and a nice bloke than look like a greek god and be a total prat.

I'm 5ft 10" and weigh about 10 stone, I'm very slim but can't put on any weight.

That weight sounds fine for your height, but you probabyl suffer froma high metabolism.

The trick here is not to eat big quantities and lots of crap. Your body can only absorb so much in one sitting. To combat this, you wanna spread around 5-6 small meals throughout the day that your body can make use of, such as:

Breakfast -Shake in morning With cereal

10am - Fruit, cereal bar

1pm - Lunch, so a high protein meal if you can, soruces of tuna, boiled eggs, lean meat are stuff i went for.

3pm - Snack, maybe fruit again, won't hurt, perhaps another shake (no mroe than tow in one day)

6pm - main meal, again, get that protein inside you

9pm - light snack, bit of cheese, i like boiled eggs on their own, small salad, or the sake here instead of 3pm.

You will struggle with this at first, you won't be hungry for a couple of meals, you're body will be used to few, but it will adapt and it will get something from all of them. I can gain half a stone of muscle in 3-4 weeks this way (sounds bs, but providing you mix high protein witth heavy weights, it works).

Takes constant effort though to eat this amount.

Edit: in fact, last time i did it, when from 9st 8lbs to 10st 1lbs with no gain in fat, in like under 6 weeks and my shirts were very tight, now they are loose again :(. That was only last autumn :(. But i did weights 4 times a week for that, properly, else you jsut crap the protein out.

I'm 6' 5" and 19st 6lbs. I used to play rugby, box and fight in martial arts tournaments before I became ill, and I've put on a few lbs. When I asked my GP he said not to bother losing any weight (bar the odd pound or two if I must) as I was at a fine weight for my height etc. I only asked because those height/weight charts they plaster in chemists etc to warn about heart disease/diabetes say I should be 13 stone LMAO He said that was ********, and I was at a suitable weight.

I've got a belly when my top's off (my previous six pack was upgraded to a buy one get one free LOL), but apart from that I'm not bothered. Too ill to do anything about it anyway - good job I'm in a LTR I suppose :D
