Im sure some of the FM2 guys are enjoying their new car pack which includes the F40 as its a classic real drivers car!

People are continually asking how do each (GT5 / FM2) compare, well one area is graphics...
Both taken at Suzuka Degner 2 Corner

Although each game has its own graphical flaws its not hard to see the extra detail in the car models

Would be good if we can have proper discussion on what is better on both titles and what peoples REAL opinions are (not just fanboy jibba jabba)

Graphics
Audio
Handling
Tuning

All areas that couyld be discussed if people are curious.

I just don't think GT has shown any progression since the 2nd one other than the visual side and number of cars tracks etc.

It still has the same AI (cars all follow the same route round the track) you can still use the other cars as a braking system on corners without any real penalty due to the lack of car damage (either visual or just the performance effects would be nice).

I am not sure how they can keep calling it a simulator when you can crash your car into a wall at 120mph and just reverse and carry on driving?

Other than those minor issues both games are top notch (even though I don't really like driving games)

You havnt Played or finished GT5P then i take it?
The developers carried nothing over from previous games.
The handling is VASTLY different the AI gets harder as you progress but its still no worse than other games (yet still flawed in many ways)

Seeing this thread really makes me want to get Forza 2 out of the shrink wrap! Paid £10 for it about 2 months ago but GT5P is keeping me busy for the moment. Hope it will be a good alternative to GT5P.

Once you finish the main challenges it opens up the tunning and then it gets really interesting from a drivers/racers perspective.

One major benifit is being able to use a G25 over the rubbish X360 wheel.
Ok its not a rubbish wheel but its rubbish in comparison

ive already noticed traits from earlier GT's, like the ai taking pre-determined routes on a course, and being able to slide your way around the outside barrier quicker than you could travel if actually driving correctly around the corner.

that being said, its still a hoot and the control of the cars has vastly improved i think.

Yes in the challenges the AI is designed to create specific scanarios with cars on the track to hinder or create a race situation to avoid.

James give the arcade mode a try with AI at 100 mate
My main dislike at the moment is races with rolling starts.

Control of the cars seems a lot better in gt5 compared to previous gt titles, not sure if its the fps but it seems my driving is a lot more precise.

Thing is with that what i discovered setting the AI to 100 puts you against Ford GT 40 etc not so good when stuck in lower class cars. :)

Another reason why the game really needs the option to be able to choose the opponents you race against.

I agree with other comments about AI though i mean a car crashing at same point on track repeated times even if you restart is the case of poor scripting. AI is far from great on the game and needs to be improved hell of a lot not so sure its on the same scale as Forza 2 but maybe i need to refresh my memory.

Game is fantastic though even with AI faults as said on other thread enjoying extra content and new menu layout over Japanese version. :)

Of course GT5P looks miles better, it's far newer =/

If rumours are to be believed, it also has over twice the polygon count.
Forza 2's cars are pretty poor and are full of modelling errors, something I've not seen with PGR or GT.
Forza 2 was a disappointment all-round graphically, GT delivers boring tracks but the cars look absolutely amazing.

London looks great, as does the mountain track but the others are pretty lackluster...though using in-car view you notice it a bit less. :D

The trees look terrible.

I wasn't a fan of London, the buildings look somewhat flat as you pass them. A lot of the look is in the lighting, but in comparison to PGR4 (the other game with London) the environment itself isn't as impressive.

The mountain track is quite nice though, I'll give you that. Definitely the best looking in it.

Forza and PGR4 look cartoony, in car dash view and the real time shadows inside the cockpit as your going around in GT5 look so natural on the dashboard. Comming out of the tunnel in bright light is much more natural also, the sudden split second blindness.

GT5 the final release NEEDS real time weather or at least rainy races.

GT5 Prologue is the benchmark of driivng sim games - i don't think MS can visually make a game look as nice on the current 360, not because of the power of the 360 but rather they haven't a team such as Digital Polyphony who have spent so much time just doing what they do.

hmm im still sticking with forza 2, i havent really played GT5 Prologue, my brother got the japanese import but i just love the physics on forza 2, with heating up tyres and suspension settings and so forth, i think that has really added another dimension to a racing game for me. while i dont believe GT5 has gone in-depth on this have they? also i dont car too much for the graphics comparison, aslong as its not pig ugly the game with better gameplay wins.

If GT5 has changed AI and car handling wise to the level forza 2 has then i'd certainly say their onto a winner.

EDIT: to the poster above, how is Forza 2 "cartoony":confused:

I need to play a bit more, but so far I've only used the Focus on all of the tracks, and even with all the assists off it felt nowhere near as challenging as Forza 2 in terms of handling.

Sure it looks great (apart from the slowdown and tearing), and I have no issues with jaggies for some reason, but apart from that it's fairly underwhelming.

The only thing with Forza 2 is that it got very boring quite quickly, I just hope the same doesn't happen here, although I can see it.
