Will a Remap Compromise my Swirl Flaps?

I must admit I have had little trouble with mine.

Adaption Reset. (under warranty)
Rear off side wheel bearing (under warranty)

Love it :)

To aid scavenging? Alfa's V6 does something along those lines, closes off half the inlet ports at low RPM to create swirling in the chambers.

I can't see a re-map messing this up, unless it's a variable turbo.

That's nothing major really, pretty good going. Just don't compromise the reliability you've experienced so far for a remap which could possibly compromise this. An engine killed from swirl flap ingestion (ohh err) could be rather gutting :o. Remap would seriously increase the chances of the failure and void all warranty.

When I went to BMW about the " Noise" I heard...The technician came out for a drive with me to hear what I was hearing.

He said The adaptions need resetting and he was glad to get out for half and hour.

We got chatting,And I asked him about a remap. He said that he couldn't talk to me about it although he had been on courses to know and understand it.

He said off the record I should do it.

You should definitely do a remap. Get Simon at www.e-maps.co.uk to do it. If you're unhappy, it will be at no charge.

If you're fairly handy with your engine, it's worth getting rid of the flaps anyway. The serve no useful purpose.

If I had a 320d I'd be annoyed and replacing it with a 33.. no sorry I mean if I had a 320d I'd be replacing the swirl flaps ANYWAY as a matter of course just to prevent the problem happening :)

Preventative Maintenance > Reactive Maintenance

On Autos the 320 and 330 have the same issue...on reading up about it.

How will having a 330D auto be any different?

No it wouldn't. A remap would have absolutely no effect on the swirlflaps. A diesel remap mostly increases fueling, with negligible extra air intake.

Stop posting crap.

What about the turbo units which aren't known for being the best....

Surely under more pressure from the remap will increase the chances of failure?.

So why are they there?

I remove them?

What happens?

Nothing?

No loss of performance? Noise? Heat?

what?

They must be there for a reason? No?

Sorry for all the questions (all 10 of them ):o:p
