Ps3 Owners Rejoice GT5P IS Released - The FM2 Curious Thread

Haven't played it yet as I don't own a PS3, but from what I've seen graphically it's better than Forza 2 (not hard), but doesn't look as good as PGR4 IMO. GT5 looks good at first glance, as with the rest of the GT series Sony have a nack of making it look almost photo-real at first glance, but look closer and it tends too look a little 'flat'.

PGR4 can look stunning at times, especially the standing water effects and the rain on the cars, it all helps the game look 'alive' compared to the stark, sterile looking GT5. I'd like to see a comparison of London on PGR5 and GT5P.

GT5s car models are fantastic though, there's no denying that.

That said, I couln't car how it looks because if it has the same old AI and handling of the previous GT games, then I'll stick to Forza.

Out of interest Mr Latte have you played GTR II through your setup ? With a wheel, GTR imo is in a class of its own, it makes the rest feel like games where as on GTR it feels like your really driving imo.

On topic, Id say if you put PGR's gfx and Forza's driving engine together you'd have a winner.

Also Im prob in the minority but I would have rather seen in the GT5 the option to have it at 30fps with AA on. A fully AA / AF enabled 720p 30fps version of GT5 would appeal greatly. Have to agree though in game the cars in GT5 look the business, it almost feels uncanny as you see them in the distance and you think thats definitely a ford focus. Also kudos to the team for including right hand drive.

A few points:

- I haven't played FM2 though I have watched me little bro play it and from a graphical point of view it looks fugly compared to PGR.

- I'd want to look at PGR vs GT5 for a fairer comparison, however avoid comparing photo mode to photo mode- REAL in game footage please.

One major benifit is being able to use a G25 over the rubbish X360 wheel.
Ok its not a rubbish wheel but its rubbish in comparison

Mr Latte, did you not read the OP's post (see below) about no fanboy jibba jabba...? :p

Would be good if we can have proper discussion on what is better on both titles and what peoples REAL opinions are (not just fanboy jibba jabba)

I dont own either console or game but from them shots i would say Forza 2 has the better more natural graphics.

Same here... I'm neither a 360 nor a PS3 fanboy as we only have a Wii and a PC in our house, but it seems to me as though the terrain in FM2 is more detailed than in GT5P and that the cars are less detailed, whereas conversely the GT5P developers have concentrated more on the modelling of the cars than the graphical detail of the environment.

Anyone know when GT5P is likely to be released on the Wii...? :D

Does gt5p have a racing line like forza 2?

ive no idea what forza'a is like, but yes it does have one, that changes colour at the breaking points, tells you the speed to aim for when hitting the apex (with the number floating around at the apex - cool) and tells you the correct gear to be in.

Just reading this thread, you can tell that people only care about graphics.GT5 looks so good, but having played it,its nowhere near as good as FM2 in the physics department.Park the car on one of the steep corners on an oval track, and you'll see what i mean.

FM2 has so much more going for it if you are a petrol head. The customization options and online integration are miles ahead of GT.After doing one lap around Sebring, after playing GT5p,and i just couldn't imagine that track on GT5.

It would also be nice to not have to grind a track, just to waste my moneyon a car that i will only use for one race. And It would also be nice to have a standing start race, instead of the stupid rolling start challenges.I JUST WANT A NORMAL RACE!
Also, you could be in a race, struggling to keep up with some of the cars.So you save up to buy that car to use, only to find out that it is slower than the one you had.I'm sure the AI cars cheat in this respect.

The GT games have always had a certain polish to them, but GT5 needs to pull something major out of the bag to surpass Forza for the car nuts.I know the graphics whores will scream about how good it looks, but no amount of funky piano jazz will make me enjoy the actual game.

that annoys me so much that it doesnt warrant a decent reply. just read the thread again. most of the critisism isnt aimed at the graphics.
