Ps3 Owners Rejoice GT5P IS Released - The FM2 Curious Thread

GT5 Prologue is the benchmark of driivng sim games - i don't think MS can visually make a game look as nice on the current 360, not because of the power of the 360 but rather they haven't a team such as Digital Polyphony who have spent so much time just doing what they do.

They'll certainly struggle now that Bizarre aren't exclusive to them for the PGR series.
I would disagree about PGR not looking as nice, I'd say environmentally it far surpasses it for details (as well as enjoyment of tracks), but the cars are left behind in terms of details both interior and exterior of those in Gran Turismo 5 which are truly stunning.

Can't wait to see what they look like in the Next-Generation of consoles. :o.

its not just graphics - Forza 2 can be completed without touching any of the pyhsics that you mention - i know cos i was one of the 1st on here to complete it, then there is the examining the telemetry that MS was saying was all so important for car setups and making such a big noise about- again not needed.

The only thing Forza 2 did have going for it was the car paint jobs which was stunning and not been done before. Think you'll find there are more Petrolheads as you call them who prefer the GT series than Forza's sim come arcade experience

I'm talking about the ingame physics engine.

The telemetry may not have been important to you,but i'm sure the tuning geeks loved it.

Forza's sim come arcade experience

If GT5 has similar car physics to the rest of the series (and it sounds like it does), then Forza 2 is more sim than GT5 ever will be, Forza's in-game car phsyics are way better than any GT game I've played.

Certainly, cars are the stars of the show when it comes to a racing game ... are they not?

As far as physics go, of course.

But as far as graphics go, to be perfectly honest I'll take better tracks and environments over more detailed cars any day of the week. After all, unless you are one of those freaks who plays from the outside view, when playing a driving game you spend more time looking at the tracks than you do looking at the cars, it's all about DRIVING at the end of the day.

indeed thats why we have a lovely cockpit view in GT5 Prologue and diddly squat in Forza 2 :D

True it is all about the driving, so what does anything about the tracks apart from the road itself have to do with the standard of driving.

The enviroments have nothing to do with the driving experience when you put it like that.

I see people complaining about the graphics for the trees, what does that have to do with a driving game?

Agreed.

So, what is the DRIVING like in GT5P? We can all agree the graphics on the cars are fantastic, but what do you expect when theyve only have to make half the game (:P) and had PLENTY of time to do it.

The simulation in Forza 2 is pretty ruddy good imo, i personally love the telemtery and setup of the cars, just bringing up the in race details with the tire pressures and otehr fancy stuff boggles me with all the real calculations the engine must be doing.

So, someone who has both and played both a lot, on pads preferably whats your preference?

Gives a much better illusion of speed imo, i always thought the environments in rallisport challenge made the game feel really fast, similiarly pgr.

Fair enough, but if your driving past at speed .... then does the graphics on the individual trees etc matter ..... they are only put there for you to drive by.

Great another fanboy thread. This forum is pathetic, used to be great years ago.

Agreed, I'd take the driving experience over graphics, be it cars or environments.

I'm just saying that given the choice, I would take detailed environments over detailed cars :)

Are you honestly telling me that you think GT's driving model feels better than Forza's? Have you ever driven a real car on it's limits on a track?

To be honest neither of them have the levels of realism in PC sims like LFS, rFactor etc, but of them both, Forza definately has the better physics.
