Ps3 Owners Rejoice GT5P IS Released - The FM2 Curious Thread

Fair enough, but if your driving past at speed .... then does the graphics on the individual trees etc matter ..... they are only put there for you to drive by.

Got to agree with you there, but certainly density of the stuff going by helps! Particularly in pgrs city tracks, the detail in all the distant signage then suddenly whizzing past is excellent. Sure if you stop and roll up to it its not gonna look great, but in gt5p, the trees look flat, reminds me of colin mcrae on the ps1.

Regardless, graphics are not the be all and end all of a game (how many times has a ps3 fanboy said that on here while they were lagging behind in cross platformers, now its theyre main argument! :p).

So, who has both and whats there opinion on the driving engine?

EDIT: That pic you posted just killed me.

GT5 Prologue hands down, cars just feel better, smoother, and of course looks a lot better inside cockpit view

Feel better? The PGR4 cars 'feel' better but its certainly not a realistic sim.
Cockpit view is awesome i give you that, but i found it an absolute dog to actually play with in pgr4 because you cant see properly!

I'll repeat my question, have you ever driven a real car on the limits on a track? If you have, you would realise that Forza has the better and more realistc in-game physics model.

its not an issue with GT5, outside view sorta has a to much floaty feel, in cockpit a more direct approach and much better sense of speed. Drifting is also a pleasure, something that Forza didn't seem (to me) to achieve to well.
Hard to explain but playing all the car based games on all current gen consoles and loving PGR4, ect,ect GT5 just feels more natural

You said you havent even played GT5P so how can you compare???

Thats because its an arcade game.It way to easy to drift in GT5.

Sorry, I should have made that clear. Like I said earlier, I'm basing this on the fact that people have said GT5's phsyics feel the same as the previous GT incarnations.

If GT5 is vastly different then I'll retract everything I've said :)

I'm considering picking up a PS3 and am genuinely dissapointed to hear that the physics and AI haven't changed, I was looking forward to huge improvements in the latest incarnation. Sounds like it has merely had a new lick of paint :(

Its just too stale. There isn't any damage,no tyre marks and the sound of the cars is annoying.

But is does look good,i don't know if anyones mentioned that bit yet.

No damage, no tyre marks and sound effects you do not like make for a bad game!!

Did you read this back to yourself before you posted it?

Would that make Forza 1 an arcade racer, seeing as it does not have ' the physics! '?

Forza one doesn't have any physics?

So, how do the cars actually move then?

You are clearly confused, you seem to think I am talking about telemetry.
I'm talking about the in-game vehicle physics, how the car drives and behaves and feels.

I said these are the reasons it feels stale. Its like a supermodel in bed that just lies there. It looks so good, but doesn't do anything else.
