Wonder Wheels - Well impressed

No idea, I can only speak for myself.

Why test fate, why not just get quality in the first place :p

I was going to get some Nankangs. Realised it was an absurd Idea and stumped up for proper rubber.

Wouldn't have another tyre now. It was after I did this that I realised just how lethal my Toyo CF1's were, which are considerably better than the fates.

Why test fate by having a Focus? Why not just get quality in the first place? A Bugatti Veyron ought to do it.

I'm surprised you have the confidence to turn the key in your Focus, what with it's comparitive lack of torsional chassis rigidity, it's puny front discs, those generic brake pads! What if one of your cheap OEM dampers gives up on a corner one day? You'll be cursing the fact that you didn't get a remote reservoir Penske coil-over setup.

"No compromise" on tyres yet you're happy to drive around in an ageing small hatchback with a set of used components that you have no idea of the genuine history of? Shocking.

Ah right another dig at my car. Becoming a daily thing this :D. What do you drive anyway?

Tyres keep me on the road, I've seen a difference going from one brand to another a worthwhile difference both in the wet and dry, I also have EBC pads. :)

Lopez isn't digging at your car he's making a point about tyre choice.

One of the few things I tend to disagree with Lopez about profusely, but he isn't 'digging' at your car.

Lopez drives a tank (Volvo) he doesn't need to worry about crashing, only the damage to whatever he hits.

Back on topic the wheels look good :)

But you can drive accordingly but still have to stop fast.

You could drive at 30MPH perfectly reasonable kid steps out the Eagles would have the shorter stopping distance.

I leave large gaps when doing any speedy driving. Sure I may loose out in the 'zomg kid steps out into the road' situation, but again I drive fairly slowly through those kind of areas, so they really are going to have to fly out into my bumper.

Of course eagles are better, and 'you get what you pay for' but for the kind of car I drive, the kind of driving I do, it just doesn't bother me.

You could drive at 30MPH perfectly reasonable kid steps out, if you had quicker reactions because you were a goalkeeper you'd have the shorter stopping distance.

You could drive at 30MPH perfectly reasonable kid steps out, if you fitted Wilwood calipers you'd have the shorter stopping distance.

You could drive at 30MPH perfectly reasonable kid steps out, if you fitted a Tar-Ox big disc kit you'd have the shorter stopping distance.

You could drive at 30MPH perfectly reasonable kid steps out, if you had gone for the Focus RS with it's uprated suspension that allows more controlled braking instead of the cooking model you'd have the shorter stopping distance.

You could drive at 30MPH perfectly reasonable kid steps out, if you were driving an M3 CSL you'd have the shorter stopping distance.

You can take it as far as you want. I'm not saying that spending money on good tyres is a bad idea, far from it. But a lot of people will sling on a set of F1's and persuade themselves that they have become some kind of death defying deity because of it - there is always something out there that will stop and grip better than you.
There will always be another inferior component on your car that will break the chain.

I wasn't picking at your car, I like the Focus - it's a good car. I used it as I hoped it would be an example that you could relate to.

DannyW, sorry for the off-topic. Car looks very clean for the money. Wonders wheels is also quite effective on grotty motorbike wheels, but as mentioned it is rather abrasive so don't use it too often and protect the wheel afterwards with a good coat of wax (makes them easier to keep clean in the future too)

Tbh mate I think we have both took each others posts slightly the wrong way. I don't think they are some sort of death defying tool. I just wanted to point out to Danny that with these there will be a nice difference for him which is easily noticeable. They have certainly gave me a bit more confidence. They should be suitable for him as I know his driving style :p

Though I agree that you should always go for at least reasonable tyres, if your car comes with cruddy tyres, I don't see reason to throw them away just 'because', wait 'til they're dead first :)

I agree, that would be silly, may aswell run them down but make the next set something decent, doesn't even have to be Eagles unless you're Fox :p

Saying that I'd not have any other tyres than the Eagles.

That is loads of car for the money though £1400 for something like that which still has plenty of life left in it. Bargain.

Wonder Wheels is horrible stuff, far too acidic, damages lacquer, calliper paint and anything else it makes contact with

I use diluted Virosol, just as effective and lots less risky

Nice car for the money.

Got to agree with Rotty though use something less acidy and use more elbow grease.

No need to wait for the car to dry to get on with the claying, in the future.
