Lets fire up the Quattro..

I watched one episode.

Virtually every car was wrong for 1981. Facelift Maestro? I don't think so.

It was very slick and cool, but the story was a bit crap.

But isnt it a made up world inside a womans head? Come on, you cant expect her to 'imagin' correct cars can you?

:)

I watched it because I really like Life on Mars, but Ashes to Ashes was nowhere near as good. Entertaining, but they should have just dropped the whole "zomg im in a coma!" rubbish and made a show using the chaarcters and setting from Life on Mars.

This series was total cack, Life on Mars was far better, they should have made 2 series of that instead of two of ashes to ashes.

Aww, diddums. Did the nasty man not want to try your precious wockbox?

Awww...Poor widdle bob.

Thats a bit beneath you mate. Wouldn't let a  get to you. :)

Life on Mars was much better than Ashes but I watched them all. I agree with Conscript though. A story line based on Gene would stand up on its own.

Only thing that annoyed me was all the Audi foot down handbrake stuff was all filmed around the same 3 or 4 streets.

Wasn't just filmed like 3 times then played every time it was needed :(

Lets face it, you can count all the decent 'accurate' screen recitals of fast cars on one hand, neigh, possibly one finger..

The series is OK though, but it does rely on having an 'open mind' , just accepting the tongue in cheek storyline and not looking too much into the 'details' such as the whether it had the facelift bonnet release catch or not...

But then to some on here being open minded and having the intellect to actually looked beyond the obvious is clearly asking far too much..

So they did.

4 series of life on mars then, no ashes to ashes rubbish.

Alternatively, it came to an end. They made a spin-off, get over it. You don't like it, stay out of the thread.

I agree that a longer Life on Mars would have rocked the large one, but they ran two 10 episode series and left it at that. I'm not going to derail this thread any further to discuss the way the BBC plan their programming.

I'm sorry for voicing my opinion on the rubbish-ness of ashes to ashes compared to life on mars. I was wrong to think this was a place to discuss it, it must have been the fact that the thread is about ashes to ashes that threw me.

The only positive of ashes to ashes is that they had a better car, even if it hadn't been released in the year that ashes to ashes was set.
