Right guys, Ive just had next years renewal through the post from direct line for the astra, now with 1 years NCB, fully comp they want £959. This is a few hundred down on last year but I was hoping for something a bit cheaper for a group 6 car.

I just wondered who people on here can recommend to get some quotes from to try and lower this price a little really? Im 19 with 1 years no claims as I said. 2 years driving experience in a car.

Cheers for any help!

sounds about right to me.

im with kwikfit and pay £1200 but FPFT, gp10 car, 1 fault claim, 0 ncb. im also 19

Before I was 21 Norwich Union Direct were the cheapest by far.
They may have changed now though but worth getting a quote from them if you haven't already

Do people rate this "compare the market in seconds" sites at all or should I go directly to each one for an individual quote?

Some can be useful to get an idea of the kind of quote the individual companies will offer.. as they usually aren't too far off.

I got my cheapest quote with Endleigh in the end; I say cheapest loosely as it still costs me a bomb. Definitely worth giving them a call though.
;)

Bell, actually just moved from a Classic Bell to a FlexiBell policy. Went from £400 3rdPFT to £380 3rdPFT with an additional named driver an Dive Other Car.

Use the website aswell. An Identical quote over the phone was £100 more...

Admiral have been cheapest for me and NUD.

1st NUD - 306 dTurbo £1200 TPFT (17 just passed PassPlus)
2nd Admiral - Astra 1.8sxi £1300 FC(18 1 claim PP)
3rd Admiral - Astra 1.8sxi £850 fc (19 1NCB PP)
4th - Astra 1.8sxi £650 fc (20 2ncb PP 3 points)

I used to be with Tesco... 1.25 Fiesta. Was the cheapest I could find out there, still started at £1200 when I was 17 tho

The thing I have found with Direct Line is there renewal notices that they send through the post are vastly inflated.

Example - My renewal was £300+ for TFT which came through the post (direct line). Seemed high to me so I went to directline.com and got a quote. Ended up getting fully comp for £190!

So just get a fresh quote from Direct Line as I suspect they make a good few extra ££ from people just letting it auto renew.

Also when I was your age Direct Line were the cheapest, and still are.

Definitely Bell in my experience, also try Admiral/Admiral group and Endsleigh. They seem to have been the cheapest around for me.
