quakewars - worth £9.99?

The game isn't from ID, its from Splash Damage and is based on a slightly updated Doom3 engine which as far as I know was mainly the addition of megatexture and improving the vehicle physics for online use -- so it isn't going to be comparing itself with Crysis in terms of cutting edge rendering technologies.. but saying it's down there with BF1942, a game that came out 5 years earlier than it, is a bit too much.

Allthough i notice that this game is only slightly better graphically myself when compared to BF2 with both games on the higest graphics.

I enjoyed the game. Great fun when you learn how it works and you are playing with other people who know how it works.

Who gives a damn about the graphics. The gameplay is there, and the patches have done it some good.

Think I might load this up again some time soon. Been spending so much time on my 360 the PC is gathering dust :D

the game is good if you know what your doing. it has a little bit of a different learning curve so thickos just dump it off saying its unresponsive rather than spending 15 minutes and figuring itout

There's no learning curve, it's the same formula. I don't care if you have to solve puzzles on the ground using Pythagoras, fact is it plays like it's 3 years old.

When you run, you don't bob or move, you just go like a scaletrix at 200mph. I didn't see any recoil on the gun, the character animations are poor. The maps are bland. Regardless of what tactics you must use to complete objectives, there's text-based games that do that, fact is i never felt like i was playing as the soldier.

Someone missed the point rofl, it isnt some realistic shooter its a competitive online game

Well, I always meant to buy this but didn't want to play it on my old computer. After completely forgetting about ET:QW, this thread has reminded me to buy it.

So if you do buy it, at least you'll have someone to play with! :)

At £6.96 I'll get a copy for work and play with you too during lunch. ;)

Had a good look for 7 quid can't find it that cheap. The demo is brilliant, well outdated but runs great on my laptop. Good for a quick alternative to cs.

Well, my copy arrived today and I've been playing for the last 3 hours. I can safely say, I will be playing more!

Good fun, took me 10 minutes to work out what was going on, but it's very enjoyable.

For the price, certainly recommended.

I played the demo and personally got bored quite quickly. However, as can be seen, everyone enjoys different things, so you might love it! :)

I can see how it could get boring, if you're on a server where nobody tries to do the objectives.
However, I was playing on an american server last night and everyone was playing as a team trying to complete the goals and objectives; was great fun. :)
