360 or PS3!?

You may have not considered it but.........

GET A PC. :D

*prepares to get flamed*

I have one ;) I find myself only really playing Tf2 & Football Manager these days on my pc. I'm really looking for something abit more casual, I use my pc mainly for games design as do Uni friends, therefore theres not really any gaming going on that isn't of the FPS variety.

Off the top of my head I can't think of many recent PC games that have a great story, like the ones often found in console RPG's. I'm still testing the waters at the minute as to what to get.

Cheers for the advice so far, a lot of good points have been raised (and I have learn't a few facts I didn't know before!).

Get both :)
Although, if you have a good PC I would recommend just a PS3. Most of the 360 games I want(ed) are on PC too, hence I haven't been able to play my 360 much these days :(

No it's not.

Server wise (ala Warhawk) it's good, but the lack of communication online is a real thumbs down for me, it just feels like playing single player. I do have a headset but the people who use them are rare.

Another thing that annoys me about the Playstation 3 and headsets is that the quality of peoples headsets differs so much, they should really have bundled a headset with the console so everybody has the same quality, it's so hard to hear some people on Warhawk at times. (2/10 times you find somebody with a microphone)

Toss a coin.

The majority of older games that are multiformat run better on Xbox360 (bar DiRT), and Xbox360 has the better exclusives out. PS3 is free online and has a share of its own good games now.

PS3 does more and I prefer it for media playback, but it has the worst joypad (Six-Axis is garbage).

Seriously, each console has different areas in which it is better, it's a toss up. They're both brilliant.

Ps3, Xbox has limited life left. Go sony, it's the future.

Gears of war 2 will be the great indicator of how much left to offer the 360 has.

Have both here, and I say go for a PS3. Yes its more expensive but it will be worth it in the long run. It's better built, its much quieter, online play is free, built in wireless, bluray is the future HD format etc. You can't really go wrong with a PS3.

why limit yourself to one I have both.

:D

To aboves rant for PS3 I had it wireless for a week before hardwiring it to my router. Wireless is pap for any gaming you need wired. Esp on PS3. Unless you position it next to your router. :D

Depends on what games you prefer to be honest, for me theres only Splinter Cell & Ninja Gaiden 2 that are exclusive to 360 that i want this year. Whilst PS3 GT5 Prologue, Metal Gear Solid 4, Tekken 6, Killzone 2, Time Crisis 4, Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2, Haze, Wipeout HD and hopefully Little Big Planet & Home. White Knight Story, SOCOM and Afrika also look quite intresting and Final Fantasy XIII and LA Noire is also rumoured for 2008 release but probably ambitious, probably a while away with God of War III, Syphon Filter, GT5, Getaway 3, Driver 5, Crytek Project, Jak n Dex. etc.

I'd have to question whether it's better built. The 60gb was unquestionably excellent (despite me having 2 faulty ones), but the new 40gb ones aren't proving as reliable whereas the new Falcon Xbox360s appear to be quite the opposite.

However, I would say the rest is correct and undoubted.

OMG I totally forgot about the Syphon Filter series! I've not played that since the PSone and I loved it then. God of War 3 and Jak & Daxter 4 are the really big ones for me!

If you're looking forward to that, are you not looking forward to Banjo Kazooie 3 on Xbox360?

If you don't want to go deaf any time soon then go for the PS3, both my brothers and his mates XB sound like jet engines .

I went for PS3 as i am really looking forward to MGS and GT5 but the PS3 does seem to be lacking in decent games at the moment.

Can honestly say ive never played Banjo Kazooie, was one of those 64 games that slipped by, ill probably give the demo a shot though. Seriously cant wait for Ninja Gaiden 2, such a big fan of the first one(s)!! Splinter Cell is also another series I loved, the first one on the original xbox was amazing, one of those games where you get seriously hooked and youre on it all day and night, the lighting effects blew me away! Though after, each SC release didnt seem the same and degraded that bit more. Think Ubisoft are taking a different approah this time, lets just hope is works out for the best as iirc theyre removing a lot of stealth elements.

:o. I'm shocked you haven't played Banjo Kazooie. It's (still) great.
I never quite found it as good as Mario 64 (though that's not surprising) and I did prefer Jak & Daxter (1) I'd say Banjo has to be 3rd. I'm expecting fantastic things from it, especially with what we've seen so far from Kameo; Rare could have only improved on a game developed 2.5 years ago (and still looks stunning). I think it's going to be great.

I was excited about Ninja Gaiden 2, and whilst I expect it to play brilliantly... fickle I know, but visually... massive disappointment from the videos I've seen. Splinter Cell could be very exciting, they're taking a massive risk with the new one, I'm hoping it pays off. It will certainly annoy a lot of the purists out there (they complained that some of the levels of SC: Double Agent were in daytime) with what they're trying it's either going to be fan-bloody-tastic, or it's going to fall flat on its face (not good as Hitman 5 will be awesome). I don't think they're removing a lot of the stealth, you just do it in a different manner such as hiding in crowds as opposed to jumping under some stairs, hiding in the shadows.

The thing I'm looking most forward to in SC: Conviction is the online aspect, I thought Double Agent was great online and having gained more knowledge, I'm hoping Conviction to be a pleasant surprise online.

The problem with a thread like this, which is probably worse than last year is that the consoles this year as so well balanced. Each console is getting a consistent number of exclusives all of which appeal to different crowds. I don't think there was any doubt that Xbox360 was the stronger last year with its exclusives, this year I don't think you can argue that PS3 has the bigger names, but when you look at what the games are promising any gamer who can only buy one of the two could well be kicking themselves whichever one they buy. (Which is a great thing for us who have them all :p).

These kind of over-exaggerations are very tiresome. Xbox360's are relatively loud (I'd argue quieter than your average PC) and when the PS3 is spinning fast/upscaling, it's actually very loud itself.

Yes the PS3 IS quieter, but the Xbox360 with volume on the TV soon gets drowned out in much the same way a PC does, you just stop noticing it.

Seems like a pretty objective issue. Some people seem more sensitive to the noise, mainly of the DVD drive, than others. I keep my 360 and PS3 out in the open and completely ventilated, the sound difference between the two is pretty huge. It's very rare the PS3 fan hits it's top speed and up until then I can hear my V+ box hard drive over it, when it hits top speed the noise is noticable but nowhere near the 360. In a lot of games I find the drive noise distracting and I can never seem to blank it out in my head. This is based on 3 different 360s since release and my release PS3.

For 360 or PS3, they're both great so either option you'll end up a winner. Get both for maximum fun if you can :)

The noise was the reason the 360 had to go for me my pc is much quieter than the 360 was, i see some say different so if there is a way of knowing before you bye then i would be happy to by a 360 again.

It Was not the fans but the drive which i had a problem with at 3 in the morning which is when i like to game it was just to much for me.

Also my 60 PS3 is not as quiet as i thought it was going to be, it's is well aired where she sit's but the fans do spin up quite often even after playing a dvd for hour or so.

ops almost forget which console er both if you have the wonga and not to worried about noise < im old and nosie bugs me if i was 20 then im sure i would just wack up the volume on the TV and not worry :D but im not.

Yea Double Agent online was quite fun, I reckon its the only reason that it averaged 8 in reviews though as i found it to be easily the worse out of the series! In single player ive never seen a game take such a backward step! It was missing most of the basic elements found in the previous titles! For example there was no sound meter! Your detection meter was also only shown in green, orange and red! There was hardly no cover system, you couldnt learn up walls or preform any close action combat moves, there were less weapons/accessories, of which i didnt really ever seem to need to use any due to level design! I think i needed to use a sticky cam once or twice. The NPC AI seriously sucked at times, in some places I could literatly stand at thier feet and whistle but they wouldnt do anything coz they hadnt been scripted in that area! In the prison level you still had to sneak past every single guard to not fail the objective even though there was a full blown war with in-mates (which you are as well) so stealth just kinda didnt work on a battle field. The ice level was completely in broad daylight as well! Making everything void and basically turning you into a sniper as you failed objectives if you were seen! I think generally Ubisoft concentrated more on multiplayer with DA and the interaction with the second agent as it lacked hard! Though I suppose its probably quite hard developing something new and improved over the previous releases as 1 and Pandora Tomorrow were amazing!!
