iPhone and texting & now tarrif questions

Hi all,

I do a lot of texting (upwards of 1000 per month!) and am liking the look of the iPhone (albeit jailbroken/unlocked with a better SIM in it!), but am a bit wary of how good/bad texting is with the touchscreen.

Obviously I'll be checking it out in the shops before I buy, but how are those of you with the iPhone finding it for lots of texting?

I don't find it too bad. Obviously you can't really type without looking at the screen, and two-handed is much faster than one-handed.

TBH, you get used to it quickly and it's great once you learn to trust it's very intelligent auto-correct.

its surprisingly good to text on to be honest, im quicker on my iPhone then I am on my works Nokia 6500 classic.

The trick is to just type away and let the very clever word predictor do its thing.

The only reason I got my n82 and not the iphone or the Viewty was because I can type txts without looking, and I knew I would only be able to do this on the n82. If you can live with that, when I tried one, it was pretty easy.

Typing this on my iPhone. Really isn't very difficult - I reckon I can type quicker on this than any other phone I've had. Only disadvantage is not being able to type without looking, or with one hand. Not really an issue though.

I'm a big texter, often get around 1000 a month.

Had my iPhone a day and i'm finding it easier and quicker to text. Especially when I'm sat at my pc because its sat here on the dock facing me and if the mrs texts me i just reach over with one hand and bang out a message back. It actually feels more like an msn conversation now the way the texts are presented.

The wife has an iPhone and I have a blackberry curve. BB is sooo much easier to text on - especially if you are doing that many...

I had a chance to play with an iPod Touch today which belonged to a contractor we had in at work, and found the keyboard/interface very intuitive.

Emails/web all seem very well laid out, and his GF has the iPhone, and he says the text interface is just as good.

So, I'm very very tempted! I'm seriously considering getting the Simplicity 25 tarrif with 600 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited web for a total of £32.50 per month, rather than going for the standard iPhone tarrif, which will be £35 for 600m/500t/unlimited web.

Unless anyone else can suggest something better...?
