Mole Removal

What exactly is a mole? (not the furry tunnel kind)
It is an area of skin with more pigment.
My scar is a slightly (VERY slightly) raised area of soft skin about 1cm, it's hardly noticeable unless you look for it. But when i was younger (i had it removed about 9 years ago) it was much more noticeable, i do however scar badly, everyone is different.

Reasons like "its affecting my self image" would just be considered a cosmetic reason wouldn't it? I don't think they do it for free if you say that.

I had one removed from my back although that was for medical biopsy, it was cut off and sewn up, left a scar shaped a bit like an octopus.

I had two of those done on my back when I was around 16. Same story exactly apart from my scars are just normal and straight.

Yeah i just got lucky (or the doctor wasn't so neat at sewing) lol, i suffer from bad scar tissue when i have cuts etc.

I'm a bit concerned about one or two other ones so will be going to try and get them seen to soon, could do with some other animal shaped scars.

If you want it removed OP you are going to have to fight for it, they usually won't remove them without good reason which is why most people end up going private for cosmetic mole removal. Keep asking, tell them why you want it removed and hopefully you will get somewhere.

I had two moles removed from my back last week. I just got mine done by my regular doctor at his surgery, had to book a double appointment but that was it. They stuck a needle in to numb it (which hurt like hell btw) then off it went, easy. It's pretty much healed now, no real scar or anything.

my scar is barely noticable considering how agricultural the removal was :p

Slight discolouration and texture difference. However, i would imagine they wont be quite so rough around the face :)

Its about £150 private, very small scar ,or your doc may do it if you say its itchy all the time ,or you can do it yourself with ice and sterilised scissors but you may get it infected and die ,maybe its worth the risk though !

It's the P Diddy in you trying to break out.

I have a coco pop on my neck which I keep meaning to get removed but have yet to get round to. I have been tempted to take a knife to it myself but the fear of it somehow being attached to my jugular and me bleeding to death scares the crap out of me.

Humm £150 isn't bad. I have a couple on my chest which I'm pretty self concious of (yet the 6inch scar on my back doesn't bother me ).

I also have a couple of the "cute" kind on the sides on my face but what little side burns I have cover them up.

Mum goes on about how I shouldn't get them removed because removal can lead to a higher risk of cancer or some ****.

I got 4 of mine removed on the nhs (not all at the same time) 3 were on my face (one was bleeding and they said it could end up being cancerous) another one was just big and annoying, and the other one was between my eyebrows. The one that was big has left a faint but still noticable scar.

I also had one taken off my back because it was right where my bra strap was, so it was very painful at times. That one didnt heal at all well and I still have a very large red mark where they took it off.

I didnt have to say they were depressing me at any point (although I suppose they all had valid reasons for being removed) I just had to wait a bit longer than I would have if I had gone private, which I couldnt afford to do.

I had a pretty big mole removed from my head (under the hair). My local GP did it using a heated wire loop. Cut through the middle of it because the hoop couldn't fit round the beast and then took the two bit off. I had a scab for a while but that's it. Just left with a scar now. Didn't cost me a penny.

I doubt it'll be that fatal:p

I wanted one of mine (i have loads) removed because i hated the look of it and i was constantly checking it mainly because it was big. My Doc talked me out of it saying the scar would be worse looking than the mole so i just left it.

Its on my back anyway and its rare i walk around with my moobs (man boobs) on show so i live with it and get it checked out once every few years by the doc to see if its ok... These moles/cancer ad's you see in the doc's dont half make you paranoid, but i guess its better to be safe.

/Scrolls through thread. Where are the pics? I've got quite a few moles but they don't really bother me at all.

I find them utterly repulsive ,my gf has one and I freak if I touch it by accident I keep nagging her to get it removed ,I guess I will have to pay for her to go private !
I had a couple which I removed my self but that can be dodgy and they bleed loads .
