Hey

Recently properly got into 'proper' coffee, with a cafetiere and fresh ground coffee and wondered who else is into proper coffee?

I am thinking of investing in a grinder and getting the beans and doing it myself, so it is really super-fresh is it worth it?

Also, what are you drinking at the moment? I am enjoying 'Old Brown Java' From Whittards, which is a really nice dark roast, specially nice with a TINY splash of milk.

im more of a good quality instant man (i just dont have time in the mornings) but if i get a chance i do love a freashly ground coffee

Don't drink instant anymore, just use my cafetiere. Quite fond of the whittards stuff and, surprisingly, Twinings rich. Some of the more experienced coffee lovers will definitely recommend a grinder and very fresh beans. I'm happy with the ground stuff atm but want to try grinding at some point in the future.

I've had a grinder for a couple of years now and the taste is so much better than instant, most people I know would consider them different drinks. I'm currently enjoying the Brazil Rainforest Alliance beans from the Bean Shop, their Columbian is also very good.

Coffee? Americaland is that way! --->

Ironically i try to avoid coffee as it's not good for you, yet i drink like a trooper :)

I have a proper machine at home collecting dust and a caffetiere, but it's just too much hassle for one drink. Just made a cup of tea, that's the money drink baby :)

Cafetiere when we're at work, but at home I have carte noir instant.

Coffee is good stuff :)

I'm sick of these 'scientists'!

Aren't these the same people who said it was bad for us? The same people who now say marajuana is good for people with illnesses? The same 'experts' you claim just about everything gives you cancer, then the following yaar say it has miraculous properties.

Who are these 'scientists' and how can they keep contradicting themselves blatantly!! lol cracks me up. Just gives the public a merry-go-round.

On a more serious note I loves my coffee I've got my own coffee machine in my room at home :D I'm an espresso and turkis coffee drinker with a bit of Grappa to add to the flavor after all I am part italian

I love coffee.

The best I've ever tasted was in the Amazon last summer. Bought a small paper bag of freshly-ground beans in a town, and made the coffee with it a few days later when in the jungle. Used a (clean) sock as a filter - absolutely amazing stuff.

That said - there are some decent ground coffees available here in the UK.

try to invest in a zassenhause coffee grinder, the beans are ground to a far more precise size and so the flavour achieved is a lot more consistent. so far, as far as i know, these mills are theee best !,

as for beans, i leave that to my mum choice.

Originates primarily in south america and is drank primarily in north america, so i'd say primarily, it's american :)

I thought you were referring that I was a Yank or something, like Americans like coffee!

I knew it grew in the Americas, was just confused by what you meant! :p

Just picked up a grinder myself (someone was giving it away on Freecycle) - only tried it a couple of times so far but the coffee tastes fresh enough. A packet of ground coffee doesn't last long enough in our house to lose it's freshness anyway!

I'm sick of these 'scientists'!
Its from the Journal of Neuroinflammation... basically a 'relatively' non-relevant journal. If it was something which the scientific community would be fascinated by, it would have been in Science or something similar. Its just a headline grabbing piece of research, thats all.

Personally, I think the starbucks 'Estima' is a nice coffee, but I was just wowed by whatever I had at the bakery across the road. I much prefer 'Americanos' to filter coffee or from a caffetiere.
