we've heard tid bits for a few weeks now, but it seems today onkyo made it official. http://www.intl.onkyo.com/products/av_components/av_receivers/tx-sr606/index.html

Introduction
As part of the second generation of Onkyo high-definition-capable receivers, the TX-SR606 is at the forefront of affordable home theater. The key is to have the most capable version of HDMI. The TX-SR606 provides high-definition video and audio processing for four source components—another first for Onkyo at this level. From Blu-ray Disc players to gaming consoles and cable/satellite boxes, you have everything in the digital realm covered. Apart from 1080p video, the TX-SR606 can upscale all video signals to 1080i, regardless of the connection, for output via HDMI. Onkyo’s own RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI) also gives you inter-operability with the displays and playback components from other leading brands. And with an expanded version of Audyssey’s room correction technology, the TX-SR606 maintains the fullness of surround-sound audio quality at low volume levels. The TX-SR606 offers all-round excellence rarely seen at this level.

seems like they are just building on the 605. the extra 2 hdmi inputs are a nice addition (4 over the 2 on the 605). apparently its going to be around the same price the 605 was at launch. expect the 605's to drop in price soon. Also, expect updates to the 705, 805, 875 and nr905 to appear in the next few weeks:)

Oooh, very nice. Ideally I'd like 2 HDMI outputs so hopefully one just up the range will have that so I dont have to fork out for a 876/906.

What about it looking less pug ugly & producing less heat than the sun ;)

i have an 805. the heat the 605 puts out in comparison is nothing;)

there's very little chance of it being on the 706. i doubt you'd see it on the 806 either. even now, on the nr905, you can only select one output at a time. if anything, 2 outputs may filter down to the 876, with the 906 getting simultanious outputs maybe.

Don't think much of AV amps anymore, gone down av pre-amp...have no need of hdmi switching or de-interlacing/scaling (oh would just use HDMI for audio) so something like the Naim AV2 will do (audio processing only) if I had to buy a new av pre-amp, or wait for something else to come out with HD audio support.

Nice! think I'll be getting one of these when I sort out my home cinema in a couple of months. I assume the price will be around £400.
Does anyone know if the RIHD CEC control interface works with Samsung's Anynet CEC interface ( link )
