Hey all

Just got my LE40M87BDX yesterday, and my DVI-HDMI cable turned up today

It runs at 1920x1080 ok, but it looks like its in low colour / poor refresh rate, as text is all garbled, and colour transitions are horrible.

I have tried all refresh rates available (8800GTX latest XP NVIDIA drivers) and its not liking it. It also works fine over VGA.

My old housemate has he same TV, and he got a cable same time as me and it does the same, any ideas?

looks like you havent turned on "just scan" in the optuion menu. hit the menu button then hit the right arrow button then hit the up arrow button and you will see size at the top. move to that and select just scan

cheers dude, worked a treat

it still isnt as crisp as VGA though, any other settings I should change? :p

Looking at some HD images and they are perfect, but the windows and some of the unfocused text looks like a low quality JPG, on VGA this is fine

also the mouse seems almost... delayed?

ahhh you see with vga a lot of the menu functions are greyed out. try this open a web page so you can see the dodgy text, now hit the menu button then move down to sharpness select it and turn it down to 0, while doing this watch the dodgy text become clear and sharp. also have another tip that i recently discovered. will tell you about it when i have a bit more time.

let me know if my suggestion works.

cheers

hmm, it still seems delayed and tearing even though the "still" picture is much crisper

anymore ideas?

Use HDMI input 2. Name the input to PC. Choose just scan, if available. If just scan isn't available, then 16:9 is 1:1. Change from dynamic to movie, disabling everything (dynamic contrast, DNI-E, active colour, black adjust, energy saving, movie plus)

Set resolution to 1920x1080, 60hz.

badbob has mentioned my discovery, rename your hdmi input from your pc to pc. the just scan option wont be available, also half of the settings wont either. however you can change all your settings from the nvidia control panel. you must choose the colour settings under the display part of the nv panel and not the television part.

the only difference i can see when renaming your input to pc is that it then fills the tv screen correctly. no more gaps(even tho they were small) around the tv edges. folders with long file names placed at the far left of the desktop show full, they used to go off the screen ever so slightly before.

ive never noticed any delay and i play fps a lot.
