Halo 2 - Is it worth it?

OR

The game is actually overhyped, overcommercialised rubbish that appeals mostly to the trigger happy, braindead mass that are generally attracted to consoles. No, not all people are braindead who use consoles, in fact a large part are quite brainalive - myself included. The story is fairly weak and the gameplay isn't that great either.

How long did you play it for? And which game was it? And when? - sounds crazy I know, but the game has a very VERY extensive story, which the people who slate the game (you) simply ignore. Books are written on the game for christ sake...

Taken as part of the trilogy it's a must play. I liked it well enough. The Halo format worked quite well.

In it's own right it's decent enough. It's certainly quicker and more fluid than Halo1.

You've definately got my vote. You really should play Halo 3 at some point, thats an excellent game. As such Halo2 is a manditory prerequisite.

But the game, that's the problem. It's like my grandad telling me old war stories, they sound amazing, but his breath smells like Marmite.

It's love or hate, buy it if you want, no one can tell you how you are going to enjoy it. I just found it repetitive and bland.

I played halo when it came out on the pc, 2003 or 4 i think. I was expecting FUN. I was told it was the game that brought vehicles over to fps well. I played it for a good 3 hours and uninstalled it. Budgie are laughing all the way to the bank with the halo franchise

Boring single player after the first few missions, don't bother I say, the prime time of it's life was on the Xbox when it was multiplayer king, the online was awesome back then but now I'd say it is past it's time.

Ok - Thats a reasonable comment, can understand that :)

Actually bungie wanted the latest DLC (maps) to be free however Microsoft forced them into charging £8 because it isnt Bungie's choice - so no they arent "laughing all the way to the bank"

On the whole I reckon halo 2 is a good game. Wouldn't buy it now though, played it to death round at my mates. Best thing about halo is probably the multipl;ayer.
