Just a little heads up really, I can now confirm for honest personal experience that MFI, the new improved, re-branded MFI are;

Unable to measure using a tape measure,
Incompetent,
Inefficient,
Have had a total truth bypass, (Liars)
Unreasonable,
Unable to deliver on time, completely, or in good condition.
Incapable of customer service,:(
Lack any kind of after sales service,:(
Inadequate in every possible way!

Shan't go into the lengthy, and ludicrous run in I am currently having with them, but they have re-branded, got shiny new shop fronts, but as the old phrase goes, 'no matter how hard you try you cannot buff up a turd!'

I thanks you.

PS - Please do not give these people any money, with any luck they will go bankrupt and an alternative chain will take them over and do a - God forbid - Good job in the furniture sector!;)

Here's to hoping:D

MFI is an accronym for Made For Idiots...you had it coming :)

Edit: Last item i had from them a while back literally fell apart without much help. Couldn't care less if they re-brand themselves when their are many other options available that don't have a ridiculously shoddy reputation.

So you work there then?

I ended up being paid to take a futon from MFI a few years ago. It was on offer at £250, it was delivered late - £100 compensation cheque arrived before it did.

When it did arrive it was marked, a small mark but as it was cream coloured it was fairly obvious, I complained - £100 cheque arrived.

A fortnight later after sending back feedback (which was far from polite) a manager called to discuss the problems I'd had. I pointed out that I'd been given compensation but didn't state how much. I said for a £250 futon the hassle was fairly obscene, I'd wasted 2 days off work (which I hadn't - I'd been decorating the flat) and it had even arrived marked (I flipped the mattress over and you can't see it). He sent me a £100 cheque with a groveling apology.

Now bad, futon for free and £50 in pocket.

You complete and utter...i'm so going to try that!

Work there, good God no!

I bought a fitted bedroom after one of their people came to measure up.

They measured, got it wrong and so it won't fit. I now have a set of wardrobes along one wall, then should have been a bed, one large and one small bedside cabinets along adjacent wall. Unfortunately, the little bed side cabinet won't fit as the tape measure wielding numpty couldn't measure a bed to within 20cm accuracy!

Chunter, chunter, chunter!

We ordered a kitchen from MFI and they said a week before delivery that the oven we ordered was out of stock. When they delivered the kitchen, they had a spare oven in the back of the lorry and I asked what model it was and it was the one we ordered, so I asked if we could have it after all thats what we ordered. The bloke let us have it and a couple of weeks later they delivered another oven, so we got two stainless steel Smeg ovens which one of them we sold, so all good :)

18 months ago we ordered a kitchen from MFI.
We took our measurements in - we planned the kitchen and decided what we wanted where.
They then dispatched somebody out to our home to make sure we'd got the measurements correct.
While he was there he checked around to make sure everything would go in OK and to make sure there were no problems with pipes etc.

He found a few potential problems but immediately gave us solutions.
Example being we had a pipe running behind where the integrated dishwasher was going to go.
He found a way of moving this pipe to outside the house.
Once he'd finished he reported back to MFI.

MFI phoned me a week later and we agreed a time to have the kitchen fitted.
It was agreed that we would recieve delivery of all items on the Wednesday and the fitter would start work on the Thursday.

On the Wednesday the van arrived and all of the aprts were placed in our garage.
The fitters arrived on Thursday morning and did their part of the job.
Friendly, professional - really nice couple of people.
Perfect end result - really professional bit of fitting, everything as we expected and solid.
One small problem - one under cupboard light hadn't been delivered.
Fitters reported this and we were told we would need to wait for a week to get this item.

One week later fitter returned with light, fitted it and job complete.
18 months later the kitchen still looks perfect, no problems with it at all it added to the overall value of the house.

Certainly not typical of an mfi kitchen then unless you had no kitchen at all in which case anything is better than nothing

You are very lucky. They are extremely bad and the Op situation is very common indeed

Since my new MFI kitchen still isn't complete nearly six weeks later I concur totally with the original poster.

Once they have your money (They insist on payment in full 4 weeks before installation) customer service is the pits. I was lied to on six seperate occaisions about a missing part being ordered for me. And that was only finally ordered after tracking down the telephone number of the Directors office. Still got to wait another two weeks for delivery - so I wont hold my breath!
