Weekend Special - XFX GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB Extreme Edition @ £149.99+VAT (£176.24)

HI there

Sales staff have no idea of what deals might be in the pipeline. This deal was done 2 days ago and now the stock is here! Simple fact is some NVIDIA partners have a surplus of 8800 GTX which they wanted to clear and OcUK has done a good job at grabbing up this surplus stock over the last couple of days.

When you bought last week that was the best deal going, but this is the computer industry and prices can both drop and increase day to day.

Yer that's fair enough, I was just annoyed by the fact the price crash caught me out. I think anyone would though.

The fact i got sent a XFX isn't my complaint. Sorry in my angry state i probley wasn't clear, Im not really bothered what flavour it came in, as long as its the same card with *** same clocks, a badge doesn't bother me. that's why i hadn't returned it. I couldn't see the point end of the day an 8800 GTX is an 8800 GTX

Maybe one thing thou you should tell sales staff if they dont no about something they should say that to customers. I phoned up to inqure was told stock will probley be running out if anything and prices will rise due to supply demand.. So i quickly reached for my credit card and brought something i knew i should have waited.

Fooled by a salesman shame by me..
Salesmen fooling customers, shame on you.

Jeez, I thought £187 was a fine price, £176 is just plain amazing lol

Anyone in the process of upgrading, just do it........... ;)

Re. some of the PSU concerns, I'm running Quad 6600 @ 3.72 and overclocked 8800GTX & memory all on a Corsair 620, never missed a beat in 4 months, you dont need 700

Oooh so tempted, that is a fantastic price. I currently use a 8800GTS 320mb and game at 1680x1050. Now the card runs most things well enough, but does struggle now and again. This GTX should run most stuff no problem at that res, do i be sensible and wait for the next gen or make an impulse buy and sell my 320mb card? :)

If you game on 22" or less, think an overclocked GTS-512 will be better but theres not much in it and GTS prob £25-£30 cheaper

I agree. The GTX might be wasted at 1680x1050. I'd rather leave the GTX for 1920x1200+ with AA/AF. My screen can go up to 2048x1536 so that's why I still have the GTX.

Be about the right price that for card thats nigh on 2 years old. :p

:D

Lol aye true but there's not a single card out there that is faster/more capable. That's the reason it's taken so long to drop.

do the right thing - sell your 320 and go for this... It'd be almost foolish not to, and a GTX at that res will go so sweetly... True, it's overkill now, but for Crysis and other heavier games in future, you'll be glad you did.

Still a nice price, tempted to get one must resist

Just imagine the power though?. Crysis wouldn't be in one (a crisis) for much longer on your system with a GTX ;). Or if your TV's resolution is 1360x768 then the GTS would be a better buy. The GT would be fine but if you ever get a higher resolution screen then the GT might be a bad buy for the future.

I'm battling with your resistance I feel but as I'm part of the dark side now (Nvidia) then it's inevitable that I shall win muahahahaaaa. Now go and buy yourself a new card and play Crysis "The way it's meant to be played" :p.

Yeah thats true, its an absolute bargain considering its faster, got more memory, and has a bigger bus than some dearer cards. :D

I hate you all:P. I was happy with my 320mb GTS. My monitor is a Samsung 226BW. So you all seem to be saying buy this card..... NOOOOOooo.

Quit yer whining lad and dip into that wallet or card :D. 1680x1050 is screaming for the 8800GTX or GTS512mb (both will run 1680x1050 perfectly but if you ever go to a higher resolution the the GTX is better for HD gaming).

Nah, for 10 quid extra you can do whatever you want to your card, OC it to your heart desire, slap the biggest heatsink on it and if it dies because of OCing too much you still be covered by a decade warranty. The EVGA one is better value IMO :o I believe EVGA is the only company allows aftermarket heatsink in the warranty terms.
