Not a work of art I know.

A few nights ago, around 21.45hrs I was flashed by a camera van but at almost the same another car from the opposite direction went past me, he seems to be going faster than I. It was a 30mph street.

First time ever I saw a portable box camera/flash on my left side but at the time I don't think that flashed me, only flash came from the back of the van on the opposite side of the road.

I'm fairly confident I didn't drive more than 35mph.

Please no replies saying I deserve to get done if i was speeding. I have a clean driving licence and proud of that as it IS very easy to slip and go over the speeding limit.

Are they allowed to have mobile camera vans at night time? There is a beware speed camera sign up somewhere on the street in question.

Any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks.

Not saying this is the case, but whenever I've seen a van gunning people, they haven't had the flash, but most importantly they point it out the bum of the van, not out the front.

Obviously I haven't seen every van etc. etc. so I don't know how true to everywhere this is. :)

Was there are car in front of you, or was it just the two of you?

If the camera flashed then it will be for whichever car was driving AWAY from the flash. As far as im aware the police arent allowed to flash a camera into a drivers face.

Shut up Wesley you git :)

INVADER thanks for reply, no other car in front of me, just the one driving past me in the opposite direction. I can confirm the camera was pointed out of the back of the van.

SKEETER your reply makes sense. A lot of logic in the fact they would not want to flash at an incoming driver, even more so at night time. Fingers crossed indeed.
