A stocks and shares thread! If this has been made before, Don please hit the Delete button before I am further embarrassed!

- How many of you here do your own trading?
- Who is your broker?
- What's your experience?
- Are you a winner or a loser?
- What are your investments at the moment?

Mine;
- Not right now, but I hope to shortly
- ETRADE, if my money laundering scheme is not rumbled
- Lots of observing
- N/A
- No active investing other than the standard ISA

- huh?
- eh?
- nil
- nil
- Shares in friends provident, ISA's, premium bonds, err some other type of bonds.. oh and some shares in BAE systems I think

I do all my through my employers share scheme. I've only got shares in them but it's a buy got get one free jobbie so I'm doing quite well from it. Suffered a bit recently with the dip in the FTSE but they're on their way back up again now.

- Me

- Selftrade & Halifax

- Selftrade- very good platform, lots of research available, customer services generally good. £12.50 ISA administration fee sucks a bit. Halifax, not as good but OK

- Actual gains/ losses realised put me up overall, but my current paper holdings vary quite wildly (Some are massively up, others are down quite a long way). Factoring in dividends, my portfolio is sitting at about -3% on paper, but I won't sell these stocks until they actually turn a profit.

-AIM- Listed Chinese manufacturers and chemical companies, an online gaming firm operating out of Luxembourg, a Greek shipping co, a UK- based spare parts supplier for various airlines, an IT Management Services company, (All of which are AIM- Listed), plus BP and Vodafone as my big- caps. Also considering Rok at the moment. All owned as straight common stocks.

E Trade also do a share- dealing platform I think.

5% return- spread betting or share dealing? Either is possible, but hard in the current climate.

What kind of time frame are you talking about?

I do mine through the employers share scheme. which is a buy one get one free. Just about recovered from the drops in ftse. Currently worth about 4 times as much as when i started the share plan. :)

LOL - so true

CityAM is basically a big advert for IG index and CMC markets.... every day they'll have some sort of story/article about spread betting too in between the full page ads from the spreadbetting providers themselves.
