Decent cooler for a Q6600, nothing too extreme

Hi all,

I have a friend looking for an after-market cooler for his Q6600 (G0). He wants to spend less than £30.00, and doesn't want anything OTT (like an Ultra-120, like I have). He wants to overclock the Q6600 by a little, but is by no means going to take it to its limits.

Any suggestions? What is the Arctic Freezer like for this CPU? (It has always done me and my AMD chips well in the past).

Freezer 7 Pro.

Got mine overclocked to 3GHz with one of them on.

the freezer 7 is good, but it gets a bit noisy at full speed.

or the tuniq you can just turn down the speed if its noise

and i wouldnt say an air cooler is extreme at all, water cooling is extreme, and phase or cascade is insane

Arctic Freezer 7 Pro here - check my sig, although I've pulled back to 3.6Ghz because I wanted to run my system a little cooler.

I have a TRUE in my rig, but i've built several PC's for others using F7Pro and Tuniq's and while the F7Pro is an excellent sink for the money, the Tuniq is far better suited for cooling a Quad.

Never had a problem with either needing to be lapped (unlike my TRUE which was concave).

+1...got my Q6600 at 3.5Ghz with temps at mid to high 30's. Expensive, but excellent cooler.
