On the lens of the camera it says...

Nikon HB-10

And then a bit further towards the end of the lens, HOYA 58mm Skylight[1B]

Took it to see its owner, it was only a filter break (result).

Thanks for the input guys, i've heard good things about this part of the forum but never ventured in, the help was much appreciated

out of interest, what lens was it? it should have some numbers at the camera-end of the lens on top.

i'm guessing it fits the nikkor 28-80 F/3.5-4.5 after seariching the lens hood (HB-10)

It says....

28-80mm
1:3.5-5.6D

I'm sure that means more to you than me!

I'm just glad it was only the filter

Any ideas how much the filter will csot to replace?

I was told it'll just be around £10 from Jessops.

Depends on the filter.

Sometimes it can be £5...£60+.

Read what it says, eg Jessops UV 58mm or something.

Haven't got the lens anymore.

I was told to just take the camera with me to Jessops and ask for a Sunlight lens, and was told it'll cost about £10.

Must be UV then, make sure u know the fitting size for the lens.
