right guys,

About 2 months ago i bought a running 1990 XR3i which was in great condition engine wise... just a few panels need to be sorted and a few bulbs have gone etc.

£255 collected from my home town off eBay.

I was just wondering if anyone knows of any online shops that sell wings, interior, indicators... you know parts like that? second hand or brand new isnt a problem.

Oh... i have a small hole on the body work about the size of a 5 pence piece... can i fill it in and sand it down? what should i use?

(i don't want it corroding and causing big problems).

(ebay do sell these parts but there all like collection from Essex or Aberdeen)

Ebay is a good place for things like indicators and bit and pieces. As for interior you really will be hard pushed to get any decent bits, especially door cards as the arm rests are know to collapse quite often and the seat bolsters will all be pretty much knackered now, the RS Turbo seats are better though if you can get hold of some.

Where is the hole? wheel arches are fairly easy to source as are the sills, cant remember where I got mine from now though, will see if I can dig up the sites i used. I would rather cut out the rust and replace but if its not too bad then get some rust cure on there first then sand it/filler then somthing like top stop to finish it off properly. Is the car the EFi version or carbs? they made the change over around 1990 IIRC (mine was EFi) and it had a few quirks like slight stutter when accelerating relatively hard from low RPM.

Mesh and P38 wagged on, sand down nice and smooth and paint on top. Nobody will ever know ;)

EFi - lovely little car. Erm the rust is on the drivers side front pillar near the roof. The hole is about 1cm deep and a small circle with rust around it. I would be better sanding it down to get rid of visible rust and sand it down to the metal... putting some protection/coating on it and then filling, sanding again and then primering and painting?

Contact a geezer called Tricky Dicky on the rs owners club forum:

bbs.rsownersclub.co.uk

I know its not an RS but he's the man for panels! Sorted me a rear panel for my RST for £15!!!!

Kate never wanted me to have an XR3i, referring to it as a "Teen Pregnancy Machine"

I might get one some day just to aggravate her.

I'd go for R6 carbs...

I've a few pics of such a setup in a lovely XR3 on my PC but I'm currently trapped in a social nightmare and browsing from my phone. :/
