If a fire starts on a plane I am on, I see no point in screaming or panicing! I know full well that there is absolutely nothing I can do to help the situation so I would just rather sit there and pray!
I really don't see why people run around screaming and shouting when there is a disaster... how is that going to help? Fair enough if you are shouting to warn others, but you aren't exactly helping if you are doing it because you are scared!
Which is easy to say while typing away at a computer screen.
Most people, when faced with the possibility of impending death, dont think 'Now whats the most rational way to behave in this situation?'
Quite a few years ago, my Dad was driving along and had to brake suddenly. I was in my mid teens and was sitting in the passenger seat. The car skidded and was heading straight for the car in front. I didn't have a clue how bad the situation would be, but I didn't panic or anything because I know full well that it would probably make the sitation worse as it would distract my Dad!

That's because you froze - another form of panic![]()

Pfft, all you non-panickers are wusses. I'm so awesome I not only wouldn't panic if I saw the engine on fire, I'd climb out on to the wing and put it out myself. Then I'd knock the pilot out with a swift judo punch and land the plane myself.

This is what happens when something goes wrong on a ***** low cost airline. You get all the ***** "News of the World" reading passengers giving their low cost, ***** and sensationalised version of events.

think i would be slightly apprihensive lol

Exactly, you would have thought the pilot would be on the speakers saying, "Its only an engine fire, the plane will land easily on one engine, and I've shut of the fuel so the plane can't explode, stop being such idiots and sit down and be quiet."
Do you expect the pilot to stop dealing with the situation just to give you a detailed overview of the situation ?"There wasn't a lot of information being given.
Yes , it sounds lovley and dramatic - but its standard procedure , and i doubt it was much more that a slightly heavy landing. The pilot managed to make an emergency landing after circling over the sea to get rid of fuel.
I'd whip out my firehose and rescue everyone.....![]()
