I've stopped in a layby in Perthshire whilst out for a bike run with a few mates and had a fag with Ewan McGregor who was also out for a run on his Ducati at the time.
Had the pleasure of meeting Niall McKenzie in a pub in Callendar a while ago. He was there as a guest speaker at the Callendar Motorcycle Club's request at an annual meeting. Great guy, really down to earth.
Met Joanna Lumley in the departure lounge at Prestwick Airport a few years back, we were flying down to London.
She was very friendly, signing autographs etc. It was her birthday and the Captain of the plane announced it over the tannoy whilst we were in flight, then the cabin crew appeared with a cake for her ( gawd knows where they got that from ).
About ten years ago when I was at my previous fire station in Stirling, our grass area was used as a helipad for incoming aircraft.
The Queens Flight Sqn using Wessex helicopters used to come in there every so often, so we got to meet her and Charlie a few times.
Whenever there was a flight inbound, we had to have a fire appliance on standby with a few lengths of hose and a foam branch on the end of it for safety reasons.
One day the Wessex carrying Charlie came in and landed and another thing we always had to do was the duty watch lined up in best bib and tucker at the rear of the fire station and came to attention as the Royal convoy left the station yard.
We were all lined up and our Sub Officer said "pass along the line, when Charlie goes by in the car, I will say 1....2.....3......then everyone wave at him".
This was intended for the guy at the end of the line ( I wont name names!!! ) who was a bit gullible. He took it onboard and we waited for the convoy to leave.
As it approached and went past, our Sub said "1....2.....3......" and matey boy at the end of the line waved with all his might!!!.
HRH Prince Charles waved right back at him!!!!
