Hi all,
I'm still looking for that perfect phone  I need it to double up as my mp3 player (my iPod broke). I would like to know your experiences with phone sound quality. I've done a lot of reading, but (understandably) few comments talk about sound quality. The phones I'm looking at are: Samsung G600, G800; Sony K810i, w810i, w880i and w910i. Can anyone comment on the sound quality (through earphones I mean; not the phonespeaker) of these? And of any other phones that you think have good sound quality.

The music quality is very good on my 5310, and (like the N82) has a headphone socket.

I wouldn't recommend it though, it's just about it's only good feature. :(

For reference, I have a W810i, and the sound quality is fairly poor, despite being a walkman phone. However, and that's a big however, it very much depends what headphones you are using it with! The default in ear ones that come with it, while better than most pack in headphones, arn't that great, and will not show up the constant hiss and occasional clicks between songs, whereas more expensive and higher quality 'phones, show it up quite strongly.

To be honest, most high-end Nokia/SE phones sound just as good if not better than iPods.

There's nothing particularly fancy about the sound quality of the iPod and Apple source their audio chips from the same places as the other handset manufacturers.

Why don't I get an iPhone? Far too expensive for my student wallet :) Plus I don't really need all the features it has.

Anyway, I've gone for the Nokia 5610. Would have preferred something slightly thinner and stylish.. but whatever - it apparently plays music well and has a flash camera. That suits all my needs :)

w890i maybe?

It's small, looks nice, and as it's a Walkman phone I'd assume that it has good sound quality.
I upgraded to one of these and thought the sound quality was great. However, I returned it after 5 days because it's too small for my big fingers. It was a total pain to try and text quick.

However, don't let that put you off, that's just my opinion and my experience with it. I've gone back to my old K800i which has much bigger buttons.
