Some of it comes off with a bit if rubbing but not all of it

I got some R222 stuff free a while back and I found that ok, not too harsh, spray on and leave for a while then a good scrub. I took the approach that I would not get it 100% off in one go so worked on them over the space of a few months and they came up good.

Can't link to any site as OCUK sell car cleaning products but R222 was ok for wheels in reasonable condition. The dust eats in over time and if they have been left too long you will have a really hard time getting it off.

Virosol , job done

I have tried dozens and this is better than everything else I have tried and non corrosive

Viro-Sol is a strong alkali. Even diluted to 1%, it’s capable of corroding and staining alloy wheels. It’s designed as a toilet cleaner, but some years ago a guy tried marketing it as a wheel cleaner, but many discovered how it can corrode/stain wheels.

Best to use something more ph balanced, like Vauxhall ‘VXR’, which is re-branded Sonax ‘Full Effect’. Then once clean, use a wheel protectant like Chemical Guys Wheel Guard or Zaino Z-AIO + Z-Clear Seal, which forms a barrier between wheel and crud. Thereafter you only need use a strong dilution of bodywork shampoo to clean, and occasionally topping up the protectant.

you have any info on this as it goes against everything I have seen but if it is true I will stop using it

So i've neglected my wheels over the winter months and theres a big build up of brake dust on the fronts which even wonder wheels won't touch, anything stronger i can try? Would 'autoglym intensive tar remover be of any use?

Ta :)
try a household steamer.
brought my wheels up like new

Err, if it's that ingrained, would T-Cut or similar be the answer, that and plenty of elbow grease.. I'd be wary of using anything stronger then a normal wheel cleaner..???

I use the Sonus wheel cleaner.....good cleaner...also pick up a wheel sealant once clean to make cleaning so much easier....

Could you use a mild cutting polish on a applicator pad to remove the stubborn brake dust, something like Autoglym super rinse polish
