Hotel in Barcelona

Hotel Balmes, stayed there last year, very nice clean hotel, it even had a smallish outdoor swimming pool and was near the main shops etc.
The price we had included breakfast.

Hilton Diagonal Mar is probably the best in the city - awesome sea view, awesome facilities, great rooms

If you want a cheap hotel, but similar views and a hint of that luxury, I recommend the Hotel Princesa, which is right next to it :p

Just come back from there myself, stayed in a hotel called Hotel Europark, highly recomment it was cheap and whack bang in the middle of the city on the carrer d'Arago. Had just been refurbished when I went so I'm not sure if they would have put the prices up now. But well worth a look.

According to the guides in the city, too, the Hilton has a good bar. I stayed not far from there the other week, on Avenida Diagonal in the Hotel Barcelona Princess. Was absolutely awesome. The views, well, fantastic.

We got some great pictures, just a shame we only took a P&S rather than my dSLR.

Stay away from the Rambla it is a total tourist trap, and bet it is far cheaper to stay a bit further inland.

Me and the GF stayed in an NH hotel last time we went... was OK and not overally expensive.

Definitely. Only time we went down the Rambla was to visit a restaurant in one of th Placas which was recommended. Out of interest, do you know what the deal is with the random guys selling cans of beer? We didn't even acknowledge them as 1. I'm not buying warm beer off a random and 2. it's clearly some kind of scam.... but, who would? There were shops selling those cans on the same road, who would and why??

Just for kids who want to get drunk and can't get served I think.

The Spanish teenagers (And you see it in Madrid more than Barca) love to sit around in the streets drinking 'botellion'(?) which is bascially just some vile alcoholic mixture.

Makes sense. That was one of the suggestions we put forward to each other whilst basically telling them to FO.

are you going for the GP??

if your going over that weekend, expect prices to be higher :(

OH CRAP!

I forgot about it totally. I am going that time. I will be landing on Sunday (27th) and leaving on the 29th.... i better start booking a room NOW.....

thanks
