Best motherboard for a Q9550

I intend to get a Q9550 idc which I don't need to overclock. I was thinking of using an Asus P5K with this cpu because it will re-use the DDR2 that I am currently using with my P5B.

Is the P5K a good choice for the Q9550 - taking into account that I don't want to overclock? I would be willing to get a board requiring DDR3 if this made sense for the longer term and resulted in a noticeable performance improvement. I would quite like to stick with Asus because I have always used their m-boards and am comfortable with them. I am going to be using a Thermalright 120 Extreme to cool the cpu and given that this is the size of a small house, need to be sure I can install it on the m-board I choose (which will be in an Antec P182 case). The P5K seems to have pretty good clearance around the cpu area.

I don't need any wireless capacity and will use the system for graphics work (mainly switching between Photoshop and Corel Painter), not gaming.

Thanks for any advice on whether I should be looking at a different Asus motherboard.

Well, if you might make the switch to DDR3 at some point, then you are best going for a combo board; as they can run either DDR2/3 (but not at the same time). I have heard good things about the Asus.

Hope that helps!

Thanks. I'll have a look at that. I'm a little concerned that there are only x2 DDR3 memory slots - I am running Vista 32bit which won't run happily (I understand) with 4Gb of ram but is ok with 3Gb. To get 3Gb of ram on a mother board I'd need x2 1024Mb and x2 512Mb modules - which won't be possible on the P5KC. I'll have to mull it over.
