This week only 8800 GT PNY - are PNY good ?

HI there

They are NVIDIA reference design just like most other brands so reliability is absolutely fine. They are cheap because OcUK has purchased them aggressively direct from the manufacturer and instead of just making higher margin were passing on the saving by reducing the price. Its not our fault if our competitors cannot keep up! :)

yes they ship with a special bios that kills the card after 90 days.

Oh noes. But 2 months is 60 days :)

The 9600's have a lot less performance right? So probably not worth really buying?

C2D @ 3GHZ and 4GB of Ram.

I don't wanna spend much on a GPU at the moment. Just an upgrade from my 8800 GTS 320. I want to buy NV's latest gen in say 3 -4 months time, (once they are released and prices become more stable) but gaming at 1920 I can't take anymore on the card I have. :(

I know that the RAM amount compared to GTX will lower performance a tad (512 on the GT) but still, I am guessing it should make current games I have like UT3 and the like a little nicer :)

Question is, how good is PNY's RMA service?

HI there

Well you can RMA to OcUK anyway if you don't want to use PNY's service but they are actually very good. PNY are a very large NVIDIA partner who have been established for several years, they used to be and still are well know for their Quadro range of cards.

So they are a very high ranked partner of NVIDIA's and they know how to look after customers, they also manufacturer memory too so they are a very big player who've been around for a very long time. :)

Always good to know gibbo, nothing worse then when an RMA takes forever and day:)

Will this cack all over my X1950 and is it worth the jump? Please say yes. :D

yes, it will

Hi, from anyone who has bought this card.

Can you tell me if this is a single slot graphics card cause I've had to return a few cards because it had dual-slot cooling

Many thanks
